C64 Games
The first games released under the “Artsoft” label were written for the Commodore 64 starting in 1986, beginning with the game “Der Weg nach Bree”, a German-language graphic adventure game written in BASIC (and inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings”), in which you must take on the role of Frodo Baggins and embark on a perilous journey from Hobbiton to the village of Bree.
Thanks to the C64 web emulator vc64web, you can immediately play these games directly in your browser, or you can download them to play in a C64 emulator on your computer or on a real C64.
And thanks to the Claude AI, some of these old games are also available in English now! So you can choose if you want to have a look at the original games in German, or if you prefer the variants that were translated to English.
To begin with, the very first game “Der Weg nach Bree” (or “The Way to Bree” in English) is available here, but more games will follow soon!
