This is the
freeware Unix section. Here you can find freeware Boulderdash games
that run in Unix or Linux (Operating Systems).
Unix
or UNIX is a
computer
operating system originally developed in the
1960s and 1970s by a group of AT&T Bell Labs employees
including
Ken Thompson, Dennis Ritchie, and Douglas McIlroy. Today's Unix systems
are split into various branches, developed over time by AT&T,
several other commercial vendors, as well as several non-profit
organizations. Unix is mostly used on servers and web servers. Unix is
widely used by businesses and home users alike, and you can do almost
anything on it. You can create websites and programs or begin your
tax preparation and take care of your
business accounts.
Linux is a computer operating system and its kernel. It is one of the
most prominent examples of free software and of open-source
development: unlike proprietary operating systems such as Windows and
Mac OS, all of its underlying source code is available to the public
and anyone can freely use, modify, and redistribute it. Linux is mostly
used on servers and web servers.
Below are the Unix
games. Download them and enjoy!

BD4
is an Emerald Mine clone with its original graphics, only a bit
smaller. The levels always fit to the screen, so you can't play this
game in scrolling mode. The game is internet-based and it can be played
with other players. With the game, there comes a level
editor.

simple, windowed Emerald Mine clone with only sound effects. Still, the

Epiphany.

KRepton
(officially spelled 'krepton') is the prequel of FX-Repton (see
Freeware
Windows Clones) using the Qt and KDE 1.0 libraries. So I
would suggest you to play FX-Repton if you have Windows, because
KRepton is an early version of FX-Repton.

vgalib library. It was written in two weeks. Just like KRepton, this
game has been obsoleted by the coming of FX-Repton (see
Freeware
Windows Clones).

Rocks
'n' Diamonds (RnD) is absolutely the most comprehensive Boulderdash
game around. In fact, this is not a clone but a game wherein you can
play different Boulderdash games. Besides the four classic games
Boulder Dash, Emerald Mine, Sokoban (officially not a Boulder Dash
clone) and Supaplex you can play in this great game, you can also
select elements from the games Diamond Caves II and DX-Boulderdash in
the level editor. Versions above v3.1.0 are not for MS DOS anymore, but
only for the other platforms.
