This is
the freeware Java section. Here you can find freeware Boulderdash
games written in Java. Those games run in your web browser.
Java is
a powerful, cross-platform programming language developed by Sun
Microsystems. Java applets (small applications) may be incorporated
into Web documents and can be executed securely by any Java-capable
browser irrespective of whether it is running on a PC, an Apple Mac or
a Unix workstation. Both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer are
Java-capable. Java is being used in many ways that enhance the
functionality and interactivity of Web pages.
To play
the games below, Java Runtime Environment has to be installed on your
system. Get the latest version here.
Below are the Java
games. Download them and enjoy!

BD4
is an Emerald Mine clone with its original graphics, only a bit
smaller. The levels always fit to the screen, so you can't play this
game in scrolling mode. The game is internet-based and it can be played
with other players. With the game, there comes a level editor.

A
very simple Boulderdash clone. Walking under falling objects is
possible, but tough. Levels have to be solved in a given time limit.
The game elements function the same as in the original Boulder
Dash.

A
clone
without sounds but very similar to the original Boulder Dash. It's
possible to create your own levels and images. Unfortunately, little is
known about this game, so all additional information is welcome.

A
good and fluently scrolling clone, but without animations. It features
many different objects, like snakes and guards. After each level, you
get an access code for that level so you don't have to start at the
beginning when you play this game another time.

A
very extensive clone. The standard game speed is high, but it can be
adjusted. There are no sounds in the game. The game looks quite similar
to the original Boulder Dash, but there are some new elements, like
worms and growing walls. It is also possible to create your own levels
with the level editor and you can record a demo to watch how you
played! In the game, there is a time limit. There are two versions of
this game: the online version and the application version. The
application version has more options. Follow the instructions in the
manual about launching the application version, etc.

A
very plain clone without animations and sounds. You can snap items by
pressing [shift] + an arrow key for the direction. The
gameplay is bumping.

Nothing
more is known about this game. Can you help me?

Travel
through the inner earth with a strange looking character and walk
throught randomly created levels of increasing difficulty. A special
feature of this game is health. You can pick up health packs to get
more energy. Also, there are brick walls which can be pushed and
crushed by boulders!

A
Norwegian clone of the game 'Heartlight'. It has some 3D animations,
but there are no sounds. Levels can be created with the integrated
level editor. If your browser does not support that, then try the
version without level editor.

A
very good clone of the game 'Heartlight'. This Java game has sounds and
animations. And the graphics are better than in the original game. Your
game progress is automatically saved, so when you type in your nickname
on another time, you will start with the level you ended last with.

Unfortunately
the title and the platform are everything I know about this
game. If you know more, please let me know.

A
funny Boulderdash clone. Although there are no animated graphics, the
gay sounds and sprites make this game a funny play.

Help
Duke to find the exit out of the caves. Collect an amount of stars in a
given time limit. Some items come from Emerald Mine.

A
strange but funny clone with some 3D-looking elements. Collect a number
of diamonds and toilet paper rolls. There are no animations. The game
is still an alpha release, so there might be some bugs.

A
remake of the well-known Boulderdash clone 'Repton'. This clone also
features new objects. The author is the same as the author of Repton.
The game has not been finished yet and therefore it might not work
correctly at the moment.

This
is all I know of this game. Do you know more? Please let me know!

A
clone of the game Stone Age. Control Willi through the caves and eat
the cabbages. It's a very basic and simple game. Piled up rocks don't
fall and you can't walk under a falling rock. And there are no
animations, either. You can move diagonally. The download above is
actually the Windows version (with an *.exe file to launch the game)
but it's the same game.

A
scrolling clone without sounds. Objects roll off grass and the player, and falling
diamonds are not deadly. Monsters come out of dropped eggs, as in
Repton. Elements include lava, collectable bombs and dynamite, conveyor
belts, and fiery wheels that can even kill monsters. Some levels have
diamond generators that must be blocked in order to collect all the
diamonds. The MS DOS version's EGA graphics were later updated to VGA. WebValley is the
online version of the offline game Dot Valley (for
MS DOS).
