comprehensive editor settings

Got a cool idea that should be in R'n'D? Let's hear it!

comprehensive editor settings

Post by Martijn »

Currently it is possible to turn off/on the Emerald Mine/Boulder Dash/Sokoban etc. elements for the level editor.

How about making an option that you can turn off/on the objects individually? Sometimes you are making a levelset with custom elements. then you have 1 element in the Boulder Dash group, 2 in the Emerald Mine group, 4 custom elements etc. very irritating. would be handy if you could easily turn the other elements off so you only have the elements you need for your levelset!

I think I understand what you mean and it does sound excellent.
But it should be in New Ideas, not R'n'D Help. *moving*

A little switch in the editor itself would be good, to show/hide all element groups. (Like + and - symbols shown in leveltrees).

Maybe that would solve Martijn's problem...
but anyways, imagine you are working on 1 BD + CE level and one SP + EM level in the same levelset, instead of toggling BD, CE, SP and EM on and off when switching levels, wouldn't it be great to toggle those elements on/off in the editor itself? So when all elements are showed, it would be like a full expanded treelist.

Maybe there could be enabling/disabling row for row as well, there's a whole world of possibilities...

oops, a mistake, I intended to post it in the New Ideas section!

Yes, sounds good what Zomis says: toggling the single items in the editor on/off itself and also a possibility that you can turn on/off a row.

Another editor problem:

when you have selected a yam yam (example) and you want to click its content with the right button, the info screen changes! that's very irritating. What about making that the screen only changes by clicking with the left mouse button and by clicking with the right mouse button!

I would prefer horizontal rows and like an option for single items as well

Now I do not understand at all what you mean...
Yes, exactly. But maybe just "BD" would be enough instead of "Boulderdash"...? (to shrink it down even more)

I said 'another editor problem'. So it's something else. I mean this: you select a yam yam with the LEFT mouse button. You click '?' to go to the info screen and edit his content. You want that he is filled with 9 green emeralds. So you click with the RIGHT button on the green emerald. But then the info screen changes. Now the info screen is about the emerald! What I want is that this screen does NOT change, only when you select another item (than the yam yam) with the LEFT mouse button. This is clear enough I hope? :)

Indeed it is, and I have a perfectly clear solution: Click the "Stick screen to edit content".

You can safely assume that it's _my_ fault and not yours in such cases... :-(
