Normally you can change any executable file (*.exe) into a screensaver.
(By changing .exe in .scr, and putting it in the system folder).
Would it be possible to create a 'launcher.scr' which resides
in the system directory and starts something like:
-> c:\games\rocksndiamonds.exe "autoplay LEVELDIR"
(The actual launcher could get the parameters from dnd-launcher.conf
which also is present in the system folder)
Just an idea. But it would be fun to have a dnd screensaver, if it isn't too hard to achieve!

Sounds funny! Probably not too much work -- maybe a nice excercise for people with knowledge in VisualBasic or .NET or something like that. Alan Bond wrote a R'n'D launcher to start R'n'D with command line paramaters (for those who prefer to use mouse and buttons).
In fact, this should be a few-line-program even in C... :-)
Another thing is the currently relatively long startup time (at least on my 733 MHz system :-D ), but this is probably no problem at all when using it as a screensaver (although one might want to suppress the startup messages and have the game directly start with playing demo level tapes).
But I like that idea! (And would like to experiment a bit with it... :-) )

BTW: It's R'n'D, not "dnd"... ;-)
