Is there anyplace I can download the classic R'n'D jue levelsets?

Post by Aurora »

Hi
I apologize if this information is readily available, but I have recently come back to R'n'D after a few years and was looking to finally dive back into Jurgen Bonhagen's amazing levels. However, it seems like the classic levels (such as the Rnd West set) are not included in the 2.0 version of the game, and none of the old download links on his website work :/ is there anywhere that I can still download these sets and/or the 1.0 version of Jurgen's collection? Thank you!

I've just tested this, and although the links to both his main web site (on the "Links" page of the Artsoft web site) and to his classic level sets (on the "Levels & Artwork" page) seem to work just fine, I also had problems downloading those classic levels (it is the last download link on this page: http://www.jb-line.de/rnd/rnd_downloads_e.html).

The problem seems to be using the old "http" protocol instead of "https", which (at least on the Mac using Chrome) leads to the browser thinking that something insecure is going on, therefore refusing to download that file.

Directly using the "fixed" link (using "https") should do it: https://www.jb-line.de/hp/rnd_jue-v8.zip

Please let me know if it works for you now! If you should still have problems downloading the package with the classic "Jue" level sets, please let me know, and I will put those files directly on my web site for download. :)

the fixed link works, thank you so much!
would it be possible to place either the link or files themselves on the artsoft.org website regardless so others can access them easier?

Great to hear that it works now! :D

Technically, this would be no problem at all. The thing is that Jürgen asked me to not directly offer his files for download, but rather link to his site, so people interested in his level sets can also read all the documentation he wrote about it. But especially as all those standalone versions are outdated anyway, at least adding a "directly download level set" link on my web site should do no harm. In addition, I will ask him to fix all "http" links to "https" to prevent the problem you encountered from happening again.

(We have a similar "problem" with the recent "R'n'D Jue 2022" games collection, which are also quite hidden on his web site, although being really high quality games. To make things worse, games like "Pipeline" or "Puzznic" which are perfectly playable on tablets or in a browser are currently not "officially" available for these platforms. I will try to convince him that a re-release of these games for all supported platforms that aren't hidden in some dark corner of the web would be a good idea. ;-) )
