Porting RnD to DS/PSP

Yeah, I've got a few ADF EM disk files I use with WinUAE.

If the EMC files for RnD haven't been altered, then you should also be able to port them to Diamond Caves 3. Its level editor has a converter that allows you to open entire Emerald mine level groups. Maybe DC2 has the feature to convert single levels. Not sure.

This sounds rather complete! The new (yet unreleased) EMC level collection for R'n'D currently contains 576 sets, but two of them may be duplicates.

Also the new Emerald Web site -- well done! :-)

Hey,
well those 574 files contain about 10 tool disks and some ECS/AGA versions of the same disk.
There are 559 actual level disks.
But there are a bunch of disks that are in the Tosec that are not in the EMC holland collection.

so I guess 576 sounds very complete :-)

I thought I had 600-something, but there where some duplicates with different names.

I you take all the names of EM disks that are listed in the eab forum, you end up with 620 something though ...
Sandancer wrote somewhere he's at 700, but I don't know if there are any dupes in his collection.

Do you have a list somwhere what disks are included in your EMC levels?
Also the new Emerald Web site -- well done! :-)

(we'll start by adding all disks I have, and providing a level database in BDCFF format)

Wow, that would be a lot more than I thought that would exist at all -- but yes, there may be quite a lot of duplicate disks (the TOSEC collection has quite a good number of duplicate disks that are differ somehow).

Yes, I've just made a list of all converted disks that will be in the next EMC level collection update:

The level set names should easily be connected to those from the EMC Holland or TOSEC archives.

There are a few sets that I wasn't able to perfectly identify so far, like those ending in "_cdrom" or "_update", which come from the "Almathera Emerald Mines Collection CD-ROM" and which have level files that differ from the corresponding sets with a similar name.

A quick comparison gives me these missing titles (Sadly I don't have any of them, in fact, I'm not really sure they aren't dupes, nor that they actually exist)

Not sure, but I think they both claim to be "Haunted Mine 4", although containing different levels -- never seen a "Haunted Mine 5" so far...

Well well well, look who are you guys having here... More games for your
largely great entertainment! It would be between Emerald Mines, and the
genre only! Hopefully Holger will get the two engines running like the kick-
offs soon yet enough. :P And Steffest, haven't seen you in a while... man,
I was gone for quite some time. From the last time I checked, to today; I
am currently a Bureaucrat in a wiki; and apparently the youngest. It's just...
sweet to be honored! It's such a lot of changes...

Anyway, incase anyone doesn't know, the website that is about the
Emerald Mine Club mentioned that they will end providing the orders
around 2008? If you don't, why not get the games and bring it into this
forum?

I thought that Martijn was planning a Boulder Wiki , which would be great.

About the Emerald Mine Club: All the games on that site are allready on this forum.
There are still some missing mines however that nobody seems to have (including the EMC)

Well guys, during my causal browsings through the internet going to one
of my favorite websites is YouTube. Yes, it's a cool website where users
can post their own videos and stuff. One day I was pretty much bored
apart from chatting through my friends in the wiki, I decided to search
YouTube with the keyword "Boulder Dash", after scrolling through a a few
tens of videos, I saw a mere port of RnD. :)

I said mere because the structure of the game and interface looks
different from the actual game itself, very different. The game is renamed
as DSMiner. As inplied, it was a hacked Boulder Dash game for the DS
with a few differences. From seeing those videos, the game itself acted
that it's the oldest version of this actual game Holger created. This
experiment felt that it needs a lot of treakings alright. Maybe more over
than a hundred bugs. D:

To see the videos, please look over the six videos I had yet seen. Take
notice that the user is making inprovements not only in the gameplay but
also the graphics.

NOTE: The videos are in order of the version release. First as the oldest
and last as the latest. ;P

Personally I think its a great idea to port PS2 games to the PSP.
