No "Save Tape" at end of level...
I've run into a few levels like this: I complete the level, the Exit opens, and I go in and it's done, but, instead of a a prompt to save the tape, I get the "Play Again" dialog. This level is in R 'n' D Jue 2002-2019 ->First Edition->28. Screenshot of the start:
And here it is at the end, not offering to save the tape:
What is going on here that makes these levels different from others? I thought it might be the nun, since the first time I played I got enough gems to open the exit, but I found a way to play it through, hit the nun with a boulder, and turn it into a gem that I took. I got every jewel on the level. There were no lights to turn on and no boxes to put in place like a Sokoban level.

Oh well! This one is easy.
The "nun" in Jürgen Bonhagen's customized version of R'n'D is in fact the penguin of the unmodified R'n'D, but with different clothes.
That means, you have to rescue all nuns (penguins) to solve a level, by directing them to the exit! If any of them gets killed (like in your description), you cannot successfully finish that level anymore!
Maybe I should give an indication in such cases, like "Game over -- not all penguins saved!" or something like that ... although it would then have to be "nuns" instead of "penguins" for Jürgen's level sets, or else more confusion might be added ("Where the heck are those penguins?!") ...
I hope this helps!

Re: No "Save Tape" at end of level...
Yes, thanks! That's a big help!
I would suggest, instead of "penguin" or "nun," to use "Follower," maybe? Since they do follow.
That changes my strategy on some levels, since I've used the nuns to do things that kill them and that would explain why I didn't win those levels.
I think, before the new skin, with penguins, I did lead them all to the exit.

As they say, 'Nun Shall Pass!'

For some reason, when I opened this page, the 'end of level' image loaded instantly, but the 'start of level' image downloaded extremely slowly, painting in line-by-line over -- I think it might have been as long as a minute. Both are very similar 'www artsoft org/forum/download/file.php?id=%d' URLs with perfectly normal file sizes, so ... probably just some weird TCP glitch, or maybe some oddity of the forum software?

Nothing like this observed over here. Just tried "Shift-Reload" of this page a few times, and things look normal to me.For some reason, when I opened this page, the 'end of level' image loaded instantly, but the 'start of level' image downloaded extremely slowly, painting in line-by-line over -- I think it might have been as long as a minute. Monitoring shows a few slight CPU load peaks in the last 24 hours (but nothing too bad, just a load of about 10 or something), so maybe you loaded the page just at that time.
