Re: Rocks'n'Diamonds 4.4.2.4 released!
Thanks Holger,
As always, much appreciation for the new release. I check the website quite often and always enjoy the excitement that comes from seeing a new section appear on the News page.
If you get time, would you be able to give a bit of detail on the item "fixed potential crash bugs"?
John

Thanks for your appreciation!
Regarding new versions, you can also let the forum inform you about new releases (by subscribing to the "Announcements" forum section).
Regarding fixed potential crash bugs, it's commit 3e159305, which fixes a crash that may happen under certain conditions, if I remember correctly (when looking at that commit): If you have very slow internet connection, interacting with the score server may take long enough to force the game to show the hourglass animation, which forces a screen redraw, which in turn may force a redraw of a masked screen border that may be used by custom artwork, which triggered a crash bug.
(I encountered this bug just by chance, while sitting in the basement due to extreme heat in Germany a few weeks ago, where my Wifi connection was very slow, while putting together and testing around with R'n'D jue, which uses custom artwork which the classic R'n'D does not use, which were exactly the conditions to trigger this bug.

Amazing! That's the first good thing I've heard of arising from the heat wave in Europe
