I've seen some way to hide text, for example solutions or hints for puzzles,
I've seen this:
[size=0]How to hide a hint[/size] (Size = 0, click "quote")
and this:
How to hide a hint (Color = white, works with white background only, mark the text)

I've used the color thing before, but now I'm only using the
[size=0]Write hint here[/size] tag.

The color thing is not reliable, because 1) the white here isn't true white, and 2) people can change the order in which they are viewing the posts, which can change the background colors to them.

I've also seen it, but that doesn't change the fact Daniel said.
I didn't know the post order could be changed though, but it doesn't suprise me.

But changing the post order is a little complicated way to unhide a text like that. Marking it is easier.

Francisco has done it, and I've done it:
viewtopic.php?p=7229#7229

At the bottom of the topic viewing page, there is an option that says "Display posts from previous: [All Posts] [Oldest First]"; those are the default settings.

Here's the two post colors:
Code: Select all
Light posts:[color=#EFEFEF] Dark posts:[color=#DEE3E7]
But I didn't know about the whole post-switching deal - so quoting with white text is probably the better option - just be sure to mark it.

Couldn't you change the background to each colour then?

I don't think you can, but I haven't seen all the forum code possibilities ,so it could be do-able.

Just changing the text was fine until I found you could change the post order...there's always some snag to ruin your life...

I'm sorry for ruining your idea, so I'll tell you that (probably) very few people use the post order and post filter settings, because in this version of phpBB, you can't save those settings.

Another way to hide text is to use the font size tag with something like or [size=0]. Then the user has to either copy and paste the text into somewhere else, view the HTML source code, or the easiest way, viewing the BBCode source code by using the "quote" button.
