My own Sounds

Hello.
I want to make my own sounds for my CEs,
I write that into soundsinfo.conf:

Code: Select all

custom_1.moving: XXX.wav
But it wasn't running: I didn't hear the sound.

After that I tried:

Code: Select all

custom_1.changing: XXX.wav
Nothing.

May we see stderr.txt?

I don't think stderr will report anything in this case.

Sascha (sorry, not Daniel), have you defined "name" and "sort_priority" in the .conf file?
Are the .conf file and the wav-file places in a "sounds" directory inside the levelset directory?

hi Zomis,
First, I'm not Daniel.
I have the UNIX Version, so there isn't a stderr.txt.
Well, I have name + sort_priority in the soundsinfo.conf file.
But the sounds are not in a directory called sounds.
I'll correct that.
Thanks for your help.

Or isn't that possible?
Please help me!

use the format:-

custom_1.page[1]: sound.wav

I never knew that! That could have saved me a lot of time and CEs in the past!

Wow...

I can't believe it. I never knew that!(I'm also surprised that I've only been here for two and a half months, and I'm already one of the "top ten posters." How did that happen??)

Maybe because you post very often... By the way, why did you "hide" the above line by making it small and poorly contrasted?

I wondered how many members would notice it there and how long it would take for somebody to notice.

I never knew how "normal" people made there own sounds either. I believe that there are free sounds that you can get from the Internet, but I think that Alan makes his own sounds.

I have no idea how. :?: BTW - Francesco, how did you notice the white text in this post and my post four posts above?

but I think that Alan makes his own sounds.
Not really, more like twiddle with existing sounds. Its too much work to 'make' your own sound fx, and why bother if somebody else has done it? Overlaying two or more wavs is a good way of making new ones, or changing the pitch and direction which works great with animal sfx (Doom does this btw)

Or at least try to not use standard PD sounds......for example the explosions in Snakebite aren't real explosions, they're battleship cannons firing! ;-)

I've got another one: since I use a laptop with LCD display, according to the angle of view, some colors change very much, some others stay almost the same. I'm able to see both "hidden" texts without highlighting.

BTW, we are running like mad towards off-topic, maybe we should cut it off now, before some forum's god throws his thunders ;)

the background is a bit grey as well, so
you can see the white text.
