Using phpBB Smilies

OK, but whenever I quote you and one of your Smilies (which I guess I could avoid), I have to disable Smilies, or else my quote of you looks like this:

BTW -- Sometimes you make your Smiley Faces using a semicolon instead of a colon -- is that to avoid having a Smiley made?

No, didn't you know?

means a laugh with a wink!
: means two open eyes
; means two eyes with one closed, i.e. a wink

OK. It seems that there was just another reason created to use "ASCII smilies": To remind people that smilies already existed on text-only terminals in the Internet (Usenet, to be precise) long before the WWW was created... ;-)

Besides, there's no way to re-join threads in phpBB (yet... there will be when the new 3.0 comes out, or whatever version it is...)
