What option in RnDTest do you use?

Hi,
can you tell me what option you use in RndTest (V2.0)?

- mouse support (what sokomode)
- warp to next level or level series
- download support
- transparent zip support
- extract zip support
- gameatwork
- user name
- home directory
- none of them

Do you tried any level series (snake_bite, sokoban) with the mouse?
Do you like or hate the extensions?

He probably ran out of poll lines. There is a limit of 8 options.

*EDIT* 9 options...sorry for the confusion... :oops:

Oh only 8 options. Sorry, I dont know about it.
Hm, if you dont use any mode - have you tried it?

No, sorry, I haven't tried it. I read about it and some options seem like a good idea, but I didn't try to compile it (because I think only Win32 version is available as a binary, but I can see a source in the archive). Well, since I don't really need any of the options, I just didn't bother.

Does Holger plan to implement any of these features in the actual game of Rocks 'n' Diamonds? If not, why not?

Personally, I normally only use the current, official, stable version of Rocks 'n' Diamonds. Although . . . I did try a pre-release version once. :wink:

There is...? I didn't know, and neither did phpBB apparently. Just added the "None of them" option.

Yes! If time permits, I will add some of the features of RndTest to the "official" R'n'D!

There's no danger in using RndTest or R'n'D pre-release versions! The only thing you should know is that levels or tapes you made with pre-release versions may not work with stable versions released later. In fact, using pre-release versions helps to find bugs earlier and therefore makes the resulting stable versions better!

So please try out RndTest! It offers great new features that R'n'D doesn't have at the moment. If you use it at tell about it here, I know better which features of RndTest people might like best (and would like to see in R'n'D)! :-)

Earlier, I wrote:I did try a pre-release version once.
It was a 3.2.0 pre-release. Actually, I liked it a lot...but I'd rather spend time right now putting finishing touches on The H. World . . . . .
Holger wrote:So please try out RndTest!
OK, OK... I'll try it this weekend. :wink:

Code: Select all

if(DEBUG||1==2)
{
    printf("Well, I did end up waiting until the weekend to try it.");
} else {
    printf("Well, I didn't wait that long to try it.");
}
Well, I didn't wait that long to try it.

The level warping is very interesting! Is there any way to make it work besides stepping into the element? Also, what is special about GameAtWork mode?

If you can make a CE as Exit with name is "#<level>" then this should work.
Also, what is special about GameAtWork mode?
The game start without a menu. Quit with "Space","Tab","Return"
Pause is 'p'. Escape if captured is 'e'.
For playing the Game at Work (Boss key).
You can combine it with the -url option to start a specific level.
(works with local files too "X:\...")

How do you make a "CE as Exit" before 3.2.0-7? I don't understand. :?

Hmm, that's interesting, but what's the point? :?:

I'm really know more or less nothing about CE's.
So I wrote: If you can make such a CE.
If this is not possible in 3.1.2 - so you have to walk over such a CE with "#<level>" and then reach the exit. Sorry.

Like described "gameatwork" quit (disappears) if you press any of the "boss" keys. So nobody can see that you have played RnD.
But of course, it is may be a bad idea to play a game at the work/in the company.
Try it and you will see it...

Why are they called "boss" keys?

It's a common description for such a behaviour.
Even Microsoft Pinball has a boss key (escape).
You should work not play at work - its a boss rule.
