OUTDATED:
When I try to get to Martijn's Boulder Dash Fan Site, it gives me a message that says that the domain name has expired :!:

When I try to get to the RND File Archive, it says that the server cannot be found :!:

:?: :(

The RND Files Archive will be back up in a few days (hopefully, it's best to not guarentee anything...), the server is under maintence.

Martijns site however, I am not sure about.

Yes, you're right! I had already discovered that my site was down! The reason is that my domain name has expired. A long time ago I sent the people with whom I had ordered the domain name an e-mail and they told me that I would get a notification about whether I would want to extend it for the next year.

Unfortunately, they didn't send me anything and I couldn't remember exactly in which month I had bought the domain name... therefore I suddenly saw that my site was down.

Some hours ago I ordered the same domain name (http://www.bd-fans.com) again (by moving it to another company). It should be online again soon!

I don't know when Martijn's site will be back, but mine is back now.

Good! As for my site, it takes some time for the transfer of the domain name to another hosting company. They sent me an e-mail about whether I agreed that the domain name would be moved (which I requested myself) and it would get into action this Friday and I could deny it by sending a reply (which I didn't, of course).

So at the end of this week, it will probably be online again. I'm sorry!

Is the domain transfer going OK?

The "domain expired" message disappeared almost a week ago. In its place I always get a "server connection reset" message from my browser.

Yes, meanwhile the domain has been officially registered again and it's up to the company how long it will take until they forward it to the DNS server I gave them.

But I will check, it could be that I still have to fill in something or so before it's online again.

Anyway, when it's online, I cannot work hard on it the coming 4-5 weeks, as I'm learning for my final school exams and then I have to make them! But after that, I will have a long holiday period and then I hope to create many new things, such as more 'own pages'. I want to create special 'own pages' for the classic games (Boulder Dash, Emerald Mine, Supaplex, Repton and maybe Digger or DigDug) with their original levels to download and all the other stuff, including C64 emulators for example and other stuff.

Here just a message to let you know: my site is finally online again...

Do you just take all levels from the File Archive and add them to your site, or do you only select some of them?

That's good news! :-)

I add all the levels. Sometimes I add them as they appeared on the Files Archive (then I only change the sort priority etc. to make them ´neat´).

Of course! I want my site to be as complete as possible! And if there is something missing, please report it and I will add it!

The only files from the Archive I don´t add are some useless things, like bug report or so. I see no reason why I should put them on my site, as they are only interesting for Holger, I think.
Other things that I don´t add are the RnDTests of HerzAusGold. The only RnD test I added once is the Sokomode version, but maybe I will remove it later, as they are only examples for Holger to add in the game. I mean, they are all useless to the visitors.

And of course the latest added things on the Archive have not been uploaded to my site yet... that´s because my site was down the last two weeks and because I´m very busy at the moment learning exams. But they will all be added.

Why are they useless? I really won't say so!

They are a well-done modification of the main R'n'D branch, which some people might prefer over the "normal" R'n'D game. And it's not really sure which parts of it will be integrated into the main R'n'D branch, and when it might be done. So I definitely think that RndTest is worth keeping and offering to those who are interested in R'n'D!

To not confuse people, it should be made clear that RndTest is no "official" part of R'n'D, but a spin-off or modification. So the best solution would probably be that HerzAusGold hosts his project somewhere on a dedicated site, and you then link to it from your BD fan site (and I would also like to link to such a site)!

HerzAusGold: Any chance that you could create a site where you could then offer RndTest for download, maybe with a summary of the new features it offers? It would make a good base for it where you could add new versions, and then make announcements on your site and/or here in the forum! It's sometimes hard to find those threads or posts that contain the information somebody needs for using RndTest. So if you would find a place and some time to make a RndTest web site, this would be a great thing! :-)

They are not useless to us (certainly not, HerzAusGold did some fantastic work), but (maybe) to the downloaders, as it can bring confusion. (Then they think it is a levelset and put it in the levels directory etc.)

It would indeed be a very good idea if HerzAusGold made a special site about it.

And a solution for my site would be NOT to list them among the other levelsets, but make a special category for the downloads of RnDtest.
Indeed, Holger, you're right. Without providing the RnDtest, the RnD page of my site is incomplete. And that's not what I want!

So I will provide them all soon, when I have time at least. (I'm currently learning for the final school exams, which is very important.)

RndTest

Martijn, of course you can put RndTest to your site.
Hm. A little hint should be there that this is the game with some (more or less) nice features.
The user can decide if he/she want to download it.

Look to the newest version RndTest22.zip (with a "little" cheat mode)

May be I make a site - if mouse mode runs 100% accurate.
Or if I integrated it in RND3.2.0.
If I do it now - I have to do to many updates.

Up to now there are some little difficulties.
So HOLGER check your E-mail - may be there are some answers outstanding. (As always you can speak free to me - if you dont like some modes)

The mainly question is: Where can I check that the player NEVER can MOVE,SNAP,DROP.
Up to now I wait 20 frames.

Another thing: when somebody downloads a file that was on the File Archive from Martijn's site, it doesn't get counted in the File Archive Download count. :| And people can't easily rate the files and find out more information.

Still, I like using the site because of how organized it is compared to the file archive, especially with Levels, Examples, and Multiplayer being separated out from each other. :)
