(My main concern is that western civilisation will give up too much of exactly that freedom and liberty that a few mad people are fighting against, just to aim for a bit more safety you will never get that way.)

Seriously, many muslims are very nice people. Extremists are everywhere, unfortunately.
The Imam council of Sweden (Imam = a muslim with much knowledge about islam) has also condemned these attacks, and I only hope that this "war" won't be a war between religions, or peoples - but between extremists, and non-extremists.

I hope it was very clear which few people I meant with the above sentence.

It's all about criminals and mentally disturbed people, not religions, but I admit that I become very angry when I see this same shit happen again and again every few months. It's so senseless.

But I admit that "war" is the wrong term here, even if it was declared as such by those who are responsible for this madness.

I could write a lot more about all that, but you are right that the R'n'D forum is probably not the best place for such topics, even in the "Off Topic" section.
