For instance, the DC3 levels have style but no CEs like in RND, creative
(meant to be great looking levels that alex said) and most likely, challenge
and a level will run in a EMC engine

Deadline hits 11/30/06!! :)

I suggest a different challenge: that would be between you brothers. Just choose a theme and upload your candidate level or set to the FA. Then the forum will be your "committee for the evaluation". We should set an appropriate prize. I think we'll afford getting one.

By the way, setting a theme that involves using CEs would be more interesting for sure.

Honestly I haven't got a precise idea yet. First of all you two should pick a theme. Then, depending on the difficulty of the task - moreover depending on the way you achieve it - you could get a simple "Bravo!" or an official award like "CE technique of the month". A not-so-hard target achieved in a clever way should get a nice prize anyway.

I think the prize should be discussed by the other forum users, I've just thrown out my idea.

By the way, since it's you who have to decide the theme/task, you could stick to the "style" challenge and just design some cave using classic elements. Of course, in such a case, the judgement will be matter of tastes, and not a measurable thing like using more or less change-pages in a CE.

All in all, hope you weren't expecting for a prize in money or goodies, winning a contest by itself should be a nice prize in any case ;)

Sorry, I must have missed that post.

I am downloading them now, I'll let you know ;)

By the way, what theme/subject did you chose?

Another thing: I've read a suggestion of Ryan to Alex about a bug to fix.

Apart that you shouldn't have checked out each other's work before posting them to be evaluated, the advice should increase Ryan's "score", but since it has been an evident, "public", advice, it will not be considered (at least by me :P )

Just checked them out: your levels are both nice and very playable. They are pretty though, both :!:

Ryan's level is more about action and dodging, while Alex' level is more about thinking and having a bit of patience.

Two points to remark to Ryan:
- The amoeba could block the path (it was blocked for me, after a couple of minutes).
- Your CE section is a bit messed up (unused CEs, other pretty useless CEs like the fence that becomes a true fence in 1 frame, or the sand which becomes real sand in the same time...)

Alex' CE section is a bit cleaner and concise.

I can't really say who should be the winner. For me is almost a tie, but I prefer Alex' one - just matter of tastes, I prefer thinking games over rushing games, but I like them all.
