Well, I included emerald mine music in the game (just for testing). That music was played.

OK. Now, what did you mean by "but RnD does not support that very well."?

In which format was that "emerald mine music"?
And how exactly appeared "does not support very well" to you?

I converted it. Especially mp3 does not always work very well. In the game, you hear it very faulty (sounds the same or maybe worse as the problem I mentioned here.

Hmmm... This may again be a problem with the SDL_mixer or SMPEG library... *sigh*

Does this happen with _any_ MP3 track, or only with that Emerald Mine track?

Are there others who had similar problems with MP3s?

You mean Windows users, otherwise you could have tested it yourself! (You only use Linux, don't you?)

Holger wrote:No, it's a token in the "levelinfo.conf" file. Look into "levels/Classic_Games/levelinfo.conf" for an example. When set to "true", it causes all affected levels to always be played with the latest game engine version (with all bugfixes etc.), but note the following: Some settings are stored in the level itself (like "move into acid" or "deadly when colliding" etc.), so they are not affected by the engine version if the levels are converted to R'n'D format. When using the original level format, it would be set to the latest defaults, though.
You could maybe just put an override option in levelinfo.conf ? Or would that be more complex than converting all old levels ?

I mainly use Linux, but I also have a Windows 2000 box for testing the game (and also a Windows 98 box for more Windows testing and for testing the DOS version).

So far, I haven't noticed any problems with playing MP3s in R'n'D on these platforms...

Yes, it would be possible to restore some values in the level file with the defaults after loading, but this would be a bit tricky (replacing some element behaviour, but not all).

Yes; I rather spend the time on implementing the "original" game engines and then providing just the native levels, which then won't have the problems described above.

BTW: Yesterday, I played the first native Emerald Mine Club level with the new EM engine! It's not yet really integrated (graphics, sounds, level loading etc. are still different code and still have to be integrated into the main program), but it seems that this first "original" engine already behaves quite well in the R'n'D environment! :-)

the sound problem is also with wave sounds.

I wanted to have the original supaplex sounds in the game
(download here: http://www.zomis.net/rnd/download.php?id=231 ),
but it sounds very strange, much different from that what you hear with windows media player.

download this package. this is converted from the original game and very similar, probably even the same (I don't know it anymore, because it was a long time ago when I played the original supaplex).

But RnD does not import them well. But if Holger can fix this bug, it would be very nice if these sound were included. Holger?

btw, zomis: maybe you could split this topic?
