EM Acid pool sprites used outside the game in Brix 1 (1992)

Post by RAP »

In my routine of randomly watching video game videos and leaving them in the background, I stumbled across a video that features what the title of the topic says. It was quite puzzling to see it used in that game, as it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the aesthetic by how the other sprites are shaded.

The first notable change I picked up is that the acid liquid sprites are definitely changed, I recall the sprites not containing dots at all, and that there was no 2 colored acid liquid types, only 1. Upon closer inspection when coming the sprites used in Brix 1 and the original Emerald Mine sprites (compared with the sprites in EMC), the Brix 1 sprites are notably brighter than the Emerald Mine counterpart; but perhaps it can be excused as the creator of the game trying to tweak the color palettes to fit in the limitations of the game's color palettes.

Here are the two videos from User:OberonGaming on YouTube:

What wonders me is if there are any sprites from games like Emerald Mine, Boulder Dash, or even Supaplex being used in other games without much consent of the original creators. This sticks out as one of these things, came across for the first time.
