Installing the latest game version

Post by RAP »

Yeah yeah, I know this game well before in my earlier years; but it seems I got into some sticky situations using the latest version when I came back for some retro fun-- the re-released v3.2.4 (install/exe application version of course)... When I was going to continue playing the whole EMC levelsets, I found out there were some flickers with some of the animation of those objects--you know, they flicker when objects fall, or an incorrect frame when the player snaps onto a gem, or I think some dirt. After some quick lookings of the topics about those bug reports, I found this topic "Buggy EMC graphics" and downloaded the pre-release that Holger had released to relieve the bugs from being reproduced. After downloading it, I actually replaced the other files with these new files, ^_^; Hopefully just to get the game running. When I was going to play the game, there was an unknown error occurred. It says I had to see “stderr.txt” from the folder, but the report isn’t written after I clicked OK. :(

I will ask some questions,
▲ What stable version should I use?
▲ Does replacing some of the files affect how it runs?
▲ Are there other things I should know about at this time?

Respond back! ;P

For playing EMC levelsets, 3.2.3 is the last stable version currently that displays all the EMC graphics correctly. Hopefully you can find a DL for that version. I didn't find one on the main site. (Maybe I didn't look hard enough)

If it causes the program to malfunction, then I'd say yes.

Holger has a new son to take care of now. :D Well, you might already know that but, just be patient; I'm sure the EMC thing will be fixed in the next version.

I usually just override EM with the classic graphics, and then it works fine, but it takes the retro feel out of it, if you know what I mean.

Yep, there's appeal in some of the older graphics.[/quote]
