今日は - signs

Post by Sascha »

今日は。わたしはザツャです。初恋。

What can you read here? Japanese signs, boxes or "?"s ?
It's not important, the board language is English, but I'm interested. I wonder wether the forum can print these signs.

Looks indeed like Hiragana (or Katakana?) -- what does this mean in English? :-)

Looks right in the post itself, but not in the post's title! :-o

Apparently it can, at least partly. It even works in my browser (Konqueror) -- I added the first line of this post using cut+paste...

I only see question marks. 17 of them to be exact. I guess the board can print these signs, but my browser can't (I guess I don't have that language pack installed).

I'm pretty sure whether or not you can view them is based on the installed languages on your computer (at least, if you have Windows).

I used to not be able to see any Asian characters on my computer - they came as out as boxes. After a full install of Office 2003 though, I now can.

So I see Japanese characters.

It's both, Hiragana and Katakana and Kanji (Kanji = the chinese signs)
You read it "konnichi wa. Watashi wa Sascha desu. Hatsukoi"
In English: "Hello/Good day. I'm Sascha. First love."

(I only wrote "first love" because I like the chinese signs! )

Yes, I learn this interesting language because it seems me to be useful, even if Chinese would be more useful (because it's more popular).

Here's your Nick in Katakana: ホルゲル (Holger)

This is just a missing font problem. If you ever want to fix this without reinstalling anything, just visit a few Asian websites and it'll ask you to download the font if you don't have it.
