dos version bugs

Previous week I played RnD at another computer (which is older). I played the dos version there.

Bugs:

- only the classic music is played. Not the supaplex song. The supaplex levels simply don't have background music.
- you hear the yam yams pressing the wall. I mean: you hear that they want to go farther (but they can't because there is a wall).

That's not a bug. The DOS version simply don't have support for music other than WAV loops, just like the X11 version. It's just a missing feature, which I won't add. Use the SDL version.

No idea what you mean here...

I think he means that the yamyam still makes a sound while it's being still next to the wall. I don't think this is a bug either though, or is it?

The yamyams _only_ make a sound when next to a wall. They don't make sound when moving.

This is exact behaviour, like in original Emerald Mine. Or do I still misunderstand what you (Martijn) mean?

no, you understand me wrong. The sound you mean is the normal yam yam sound. The sound I mean is a little like a boring machine. I can't explain it, I can't explain it in Dutch either! Because I don't know why it happens.

I can't record in DOS, otherwise I would have recorded it for you (because you only use linux, don't you?). Ore are there programs for dos which can record?

So you mean the yamyam makes its normal sound, but there is an additional sound that does not belong there normally (in the Windows or Linux version, for example)?

BTW: What the heck is a "boring machine"? :-|

I'm afraid I have no real idea what you mean with your bug report... :-(

"boring machine" is in my dictionary :)

"drilling machine" is another word for it...

It is a machine to make holes in the wall for example...

"Bohrer" in German...

Oops, I didn't know this word... Sorry! :-)

OK, my question was:
So you mean the yamyam makes its normal sound, but there is an additional sound that does
not belong there normally (in the Windows or Linux version, for example)?

No, not an additional sound. I think it's the same sound which hangs if the yam yam presses the wall. Like a dirty cd in your cd player.

I synchronized the sound. It's a little bit like this (but not the same!). It's only to understand what I mean, because it's hard to explain.
