There should be a graphic editor in the
list of actions (like "level creator")
There should be an editor with that you can
make graphics for your own elements or CEs.
I thought so:

the empty field should be 32x32 big (for graphics).
you should be able to choose a color on then you
should be able to paint the graphic. After that you could
save and reload the graphics and arrange them for
the CEs or replace the new graphic by one of the
classic graphics.

It would be a really cool addon, it would save a lot of time if you use it to make temporary graphics, when building a level :D Really nice :!:

Yes, I thought that ,too.
You would be able to use the game directly.
You would not need a paint software or else.
But I think it will be difficult to realise for Holger.
Maybe Holger could consider this idea.

wouldn't this result in very ugly levelsets?
anyway, it would be a nice extra feature!

Interesting idea... But then: R'n'D will never be a paint program (if we ignore Alan's "PhotoMap" levels and his "paint program" levels for a while ;-) ).

So using a real paint program or icon editor will probably be a better solution in most cases.

If you think that the real advantage of this idea would be that you wouldn't have to edit "graphicsinfo.conf" files anymore, then I have something different for you that will be far better suited for this task -- please stand by for a few days...

Hrrm...? This sounds interesting... I've got a little feeling about what it can be, but I'll be patient...

I also think that RND should not be a paint program, since we all are using different programs for painting, and there's so so so so soooo many functions that could be included in paint programs, I believe it's best to let RND be RND and not Paintbrush Junior or Photoshop Lite...

I agree with this viewpoint.

ConfEdit -- This is what I suspected! :D

Look at this:
In this topic, I almost wrote:Well then, why does the graphicsinfo.conf in Holger's New Zealand 2005 BMP2Photomap2 example say at the top:

Code: Select all

################################
# GraphicsInfo.conf #
# Made With ConfEdit #
################################
This isn't the only place, either!!!

I wouldn't have written that if I wouldn't be sure that he's alive and kickin', waiting for your ConfEdit feedback... ;-)

Alan is still around, he just lost interest in the forums (so dont expect him to reply to PM's anytime soon), if you want to get in touch with him your best e-mailing him via the e-mail given on the ConfEdit page.
