Got a cool idea that should be in R'n'D? Let's hear it!

define *.conf file inside the game

Post by Martijn »

What about a configuration window inside Rocks 'n' Diamonds for the levelinfo.conf, graphicsinfo.conf, musicinfo.conf and soundinfo.conf files? It would be very handy!

But I can imagine - if you like the idea at least - that you will put it on the bottom of the list, as it's not strictly necessary.

Maybe the best solution is to simply use ConfEdit for this! :-)

If I'm not mistaken, it hasn't been released yet.

asiekierka: Don't post such foolish stuff again. I won't delete the post this time, just so people can see how they should not post.

Wha.. If I recall correctly, that is a virus! Or maybe the 'virus' thing is just a hack of it... I still remember my dad opening it, and it turned to diffrent moving screens over you desktop (you could hardly close them without CTRL+ALT+Delete) and he had to remove some virus... :(

Thank you Rockford4ever for the information, anyway I didn't open it, just to be sure.

Now I'd like to know why Holger speaks about using it while Zomis says that it isn't available yet :!: :?:

oh yes, I didn't think of that. But it has not been released yet, so that might be the reason.
though I think that an in-game option would even be handier, but it's a bit surplus and negative towards Alan, as he hasn't created the ConfEdit for nothing. You're right, I'm sorry, ConfEdit just didn't come up into my mind.

I wouldn't say that was negative, it's a brilliant idea! (but a bit too much work I think)

So a built in text editor which dynamically changes the game when editing any conf? Oh yes, I'd love that! :D

no, I meant just a pull-down list with different sort priorities, a textbox in which you have to type in the name of the levelset, another choose box in which you have to choose the number of levels, a checkbox for readonly, another checkbox for handicap etc.

so that I will never come across a level without levelinfo.conf anymore ;-)
