Rocksndiamonds for another game console

Post by Sascha »

For a long time yet it wa my secret wish to play Rocksndiamonds at a GameBoy or a Playstation. I think it would be veeery difficult to realize.
But it would be so good.
For example: Nintendo DS:
-touchscreen for creating levels (selecting elements and put it in the level)
-direction-buttons for leading player(s)
-WiFi (wireless connection of two Nintendos for Multiplayer)

I believe that would be perfect!
Think about, please.

I think it's possible, but I don't think it's realistic. Programming for such platforms is much harder than for computers. I don't even know how to make a simple "Hello World" program for such platforms.

I agree with Zomis. There's no reason why it would be impossible, but it's definitely not realistic.
The H. World levelset can be downloaded from http://www.bd-fans.com/RnD.html -- search The H. World on that page.

Just install Linux on these devices (if available, and there's a good chance for it), install the SDL libraries (if available), adjust some things (like DiPal did for the PocketPC/Palm port) and recompile -- that's it! ;-)

A port to the native console systems can be not only tricky (but probably possible without too much effort), but also cost intensive, as it costs money (licenses) to develop for some of these console systems.

Holger> It costs money...licenses

Yes, I think so, too.
To play Rocksndiamonds on such a console
you would have to cooperate with the
producents of the other games for e.g.
nintendo or whatever.

But it would be great... only a suggestion:-)
Perhaps the firms realize what a
brilliant, adventuresome, amazing game
Rocksndiamonds is!
Then they'll snap it up by themselve!
