Players

Post by m&m »

i've got 2 ideas. first of all: instead of team mode (on/off) option there could be: number of players (1-4). another idea: add to levelinfo.conf file these rows:

player_1: off
player_2: on
player_3: on
player_4: off

we can see that levelgroup is intended only for 2 or 3 players. and now: if a user chooses this levelgroup, in 'number of players' option it's only possible to set these values (2 or 3). what do you think about that?

I think your first idea is dispensable.
There is no difference: player 1 or player 2, 3 or 4.
Your second idea... :|
I'm not sure, well, it's nearly the same
like your first idea.
Why do you want to use the second
and third players only?
The only difference are the
keys on your keyboard you have to
press to move the players.
but that you can change in the input devices in
"setup".

I don't know, what usage it would have.

I also posted some ideas about the number of players in the "pre-release 3.2.0-8" thread.
Here's a new one:
If you set the start position for players, you can check in the config screen, if this player is optional or not.

Some examples [minimum number of players/maximum number of players]:
[1/1] levels: 1 start position, 1 not optional
[1/2] levels: 2 start positions, 1 not optional, 1 optional
[2/2] levels: 2 start positions, 2 not optional
[2/3] levels: 3 start positions, 2 not optional, 1 optional

i just gave an example. i don't mean to use only the 2nd or 3rd player. the thing is that 2 or 3 players can play in selected levelgroup. it's not possible only for 1 or for 4 players.

I'm not totally sure if I understood all ideas and suggestions here...

What should be added in any case is an indication which sets are playable only for single players, and which are playable for several players (and how many).
