"you guys"? Believe me, such things aren't as easy as it sounds. Even though it would be extraordinary cool. It's quite difficult.

RnD is open source, learn how to program for DS/PSP and convert the code. Can it be easier? :)

At least use a reasonable topic, please.

(I've edited it -- I assume that the previous topic "IIz." was the result of a cat walking over your keyboard or something like that. Further discussion about this in the Off-Topic section, please.)

And at least it belongs to the 'New Ideas' subforum...

It's not possible to merge topics on this forum. And I think it fits better as an own topic.
And actually I think it's fit better here in the General Discussion forum than in New Ideas so I simply let it be.

I'm a huge fan of Boulder Dash/Emerald Mine and I'm a huge fan of portable gaming. I know that there's no RnD port for the PSP but there's a WinUAE port for the PSP. So now I have this question. Is it possible to use the RnD levels with the WinUAE emulator?
I know that it's probably better to use those disks from EMC but so far I've only found them on http://www.a-biz.nl/emc/order.php to order. 350 Euro for all 550 games however is quite a lot of cash. Using the available RnD levels would be an econimically more friendly way to have some portable emerald mine fun. 8)

> Is it possible to use the RnD levels with the WinUAE emulator?

As the levels in the EMC collection are all the original Amiga EMC levels (not converted to R'n'D format!), this would be possible, yes. Practically, you would need to have at least one EMC floppy image (ADF file) and then replace the EMC levels on it with the levels from the R'n'D EMC collection of the desired level set. This (replacing the files on the ADF floppy image) could be a little bit tricky and may require special tools. (Practical solution: Use the ADF file from within WinUAE, mount the EMC collection directory and copy the files inside WinUAE to the virtual floppy disk -- that's all.)

Especially when considering that all those EMC disks are in the Public Domain!

> We COULD ask Holger and Martijn. They have TONS.

In fact, I have all EMC disks as ADF files that ever existed (therefore also all that are on that incredibly expensive CD-ROM). I would release them right away (as I am convinced that they are all Public Domain), but the person from which I've got most of them asked me to not release them, as he thinks that they are NOT in the Public Domain, and so I won't release them for now, until this issue is cleared.

Then I'll wait untill the issue is cleared ;-)

I think they are all PD aswell but who knows.

Thx for the quick answers tho 8)

PS: I've just found a large 26.068 Amiga disks collection on a news server which also has a big list of Emerald Mine games included.
It's TOSEC Amiga v2005-10-27 however , so I guess that the amount of Emerald Mine games aint as big as the EMC collection.\

Code: Select all

alt.binaries.***-******** presents:

Game: 26,068 Amiga disks (13.5 fat gigs of Amiga goodness!)
Platform: Commodore Amiga
  Region: various
Filename: abtt-amiga.rar
  Format: various (individually zipped)
   Files: 292x50MB
PAR2: 5% (not enough? try using a decent server! I do!)
     SFV: Yes
  Source: TOSEC Amiga v2005-10-27
Working: Should be... if they don't, blame the TOSEC crew, not me.
  Repost: HAHAHAHA... no.

Notes: These are playable on the WinUAE emulator (WinUAE-X also).

Live to share. :)

Hey,
I'm currently in the process of redoing the emerald web website with Galaxy.
The (temporary) url is http://emerald.stef.be/
Missing EM-disks will be added whenever I find the time, but for those of you who don't like waiting: here's the EMC collection
http://emerald.stef.be/EMC.rar (574 files)
You are right: they should be in the public domain.
Have fun!

The Tosec archive mentioned above contains about 330 EM-disks.
Far for complete, but they do have some disks that are not in the EMC collection.

Still there are some EM-disks out there that aren't in TOSEC or the EMC-collection ...

Cheers
Steffest
