Maybe the BIOS of the mainboard supports USB mass storage devices so that an USB stick will behave like a floppy disk ...
And maybe you can get NTFS support into your DOS with this:

Btw.: Before you let Partition Magic convert your file system, backup all your data!

I've found a solution!

I downloaded the latest Dosbox (v0.65 instead of v0.63 which I had) and downloaded the extra frontend 'D-Fend v2'! (See http://members.home.nl/mabus/ With this handy utility, you can set everything, the resolution, scaling and many other graphics options. And I found out that I could easily adjust my monitor size during the game: with the black borders. As soon as you quit the game, it turns to the normal screen settings again!

No startup problems, but just clicking on an icon and... there it is!!!

GREAT!!!

There is one problem: your progress is not saved.

These are the steps you have to do in order to get your progress saved:

- Play the game in DOSBox
- When you want to stop, press [alt] + [enter]
- Delete the (hidden) player.lst file in the Supaplex directory
- Exit the game via the normal way in DOSBox.
- Now the Supaplex directory contains a good new player.lst file with your game progress! The next time you start Supaplex with DOSBox, you will be able to go on where you were playing!

You only need to do this once.

Have fun! :D

I’m glad that you found a solution! Still, I would like to mention another one (which has already been mentioned, actually). Perhaps somebody finds this interesting:

I had lots and lots of problems with old (DOS) games as well, and I almost gave up on them completely. But then I decided to try one last chance and installed FreeDOS.

And it works! Moreover, it works perfectly!!! Now I can finally play “System Shock”, “Supaplex”, various old Legend’s interactive fiction (like “Spellcasting”), and pretty much everything else again! :D

All in all, I’m so pleased with FreeDOS that now I would like to recommend it to just about everyone! :) Yes, it is a bit annoying to reformat the PC and set things up again, but in the end, I think it’s well worth it.

Cheers!
