I already tried Atomix in 3.1.0, and didn't succeed. Maybe in 3.2.0 it will be better, but I don't think so.

I don't know if Alan is kidding or not, about the disk access

It would be far cool, but *really dangerous* in wrong hands... not to speak about the coding it would need to implement, so I wish that such a feature will never be added.
I'd like to make a level where if the player failed to win, it would delete all the MP3s from their harddisk ;-)

Exactly the kind of things I'd like to avoid.
Glad to know that you were kidding ;)
Anyway, by the way, have fun!

Nice ideas... ;-)

(And no, I won't let R'n'D levels or CEs write stuff to your harddisk... ;-) )

Not even for the current levelset directory?

Well, better not for now. Don't like the idea of "security leaks" in R'n'D at all, that let you (over-)write something at different places due to errors, used by flawed or (intentionally or unintentionally) malformed levels.

If we really think that we'll need it for some super-duper functionality in R'n'D 5.0.0, we may think again of using a sandbox system etc., but for now I don't want to add something like that...

What about a "Enigma" engine?
And the answer is ... 42 !

Nice idea, but Enigma is IMO far too complicated. The ball has numerous special properties:
1. it is smaller than one map square
2. it can be on multiple squares at once, even if it doesn't move (unlike RnD player)
3. it has some special physics for movement which would be difficult to reproduce
But, as I said, it's a nice idea, and after all, everything in this topic is a bit difficult to imagine, so maybe once...?

You can do all the above with GameMaker:

IMO I don't think it would be a good idea for levels/CEs to write to your hardisk.

It's best keeping R'n'D to what it was originally intended to be rather than turning it into a dodgy game maker or OS or whatever.

Maybe so. And you can do a GameMaker in C, or Delphi ;) But GameMaker is also limited when it comes to other things. Limitations will always exist, in some way.

I think we all agree at this point.

This was only a joke... R'n'D will never be able to do this. :-)

Absolutely correct.
