I often hitch-hike, so I meet all sorts of people: pretty successful musicians, CEOs of big companies, government guys, etc. etc... but nobody worth mentioning here, as they're usually 'local stars'. Well, I've seens some presidents and royals, but it's not really 'meeting', is it?

Well, I don't know if you know these people, but they are pretty known in Sweden:
Shirley Clamp (artist)
Östen med Resten (artist group)
Tommy Nilsson (artist)

And some people I've seen but not actually talked to:
The queen of Norway
Fredrik Reinfeldt, Björn von Sydow, Mona Sahlin, Ibrahim Baylan (politicians)
..and maybe some more I can't think of right now

This can happen. While visiting the EXPO 2000 in Hannover, I met a TV moderator who is relatively popular in Germany (although "met" is the wrong word -- I was standing two meters away in a queue waiting for an event), and who gives the impression (in TV) that he is very likable. As the exhibition was quite crowded, one had to get a ticket some hours before the event started. He was ignoring the queue, directly talking to the booth people, telling them that he is a very important person and has to get tickets immediately. Some hours later, when the event started, he came with his familiy, pushing through all other guests to get the places in the very first row. I was sitting very near and was "fascinated" about him not giving a damn what others might think about him, although being known and popular otherwise.

In the result, he is not that likable anymore for me... ;-)

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. I've never heard of these people and you probably never heard of the ones I've met. ;-)

The probably most known person i was in a conversation with (although i don't think i did say much) was Harald Welte, current maintainer of the Linux netfilter...

On the other hand I know a lot people of whom someone possibly might get famous someday ;)

I just remembered one more person I've met.
One of the former singers in the band "Ace of Base", Jenny Löfgren! :)
(I do hope you recognize "Ace of Base"... otherwise... well... whatever...)
