Re: can't make USE (or ME) persistent in editor

Thanks, built & verified that it works correctly for USE (didn't check ME).

I would have done:

#define NUM_GLOBAL_SETUP_TOKENS (ARRAY_SIZE(global_setup_tokens))
(etc.)

rather than all the inline code changes. Even if it's only 2 uses per define.

Re: Where did the elements in the "RND" section of the editor originate?

Holger was the author of Mirror Magic (released as 'Mindbender' -- see https://www.artsoft.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=986 for background). What is not explained in those old messages is whether MM and its elements were entirely newly designed by Holger; other possibilities I can think of are (1) that...

Re: Pearl turns into EM rock if it passes through two successive DC2 magic walls

Is the Steam version really at all related to classic DC / DC2 / DC3? It sounds like the levelset(s) it comes with are new; the objects might be as well. Even if they're based on the general ideas of the DC3 objects, if the author rewrote everything from scratch they probably won't behave the same (...

can't make USE (or ME) persistent in editor

I used to have the Level Creator configured to open the 'USE' section by default. Now this no longer happens. I've verified that toggling the 'TXT' section immediately causes ~/.rocksndiamonds/editorcascade.conf to be rewritten, changing the state of 'editor.cascade.el_chars'. On the other hand, tog...

Re: Prompt to restart upon player dying

I run all of R'n'D's 'tape buttons' from the keyboard, and I'm not at all confused about what they do and how to operate them. I was talking about my play tactics & how I want the software to accommodate them. Having built 4.1.1.1, I now have the prompt-to-restart feature. I found it intrusively...

Re: Diamond Caves is being sold on Steam now

R'n'D's game-breaking tools of replay, single-step, and speed adjustments, are just right! :)

.gitignore

My build directory is littered (by my own actions) with things like rocksndiamonds-sdl2 and rocksndiamonds.old . git status also whines about various graphics files created by the build. $ git diff diff --git a/.gitignore b/.gitignore index e884cfc..c521d23 100644 --- a/.gitignore +++ b/.gitignore @...

dump problem; level images?

1. Does ' --command dump ' work only on R'n'D files? I would expect it to do the same internal format translation as when (successfully!) playing such a level: $ rocksndiamonds -e 'dump level /usr/share/games/rocksndiamonds/levels/Emerald Mine Club/emc_emerald_dash_03/21s' rocksndiamonds: warning: u...

Re: Ideas from trying out 4.1.1.0, slow motion button, vsysnc, descriptions, etc...

I'm pretty sure I've poked at all the speeds from time to time -- but by far my most common speeds are: (default) for normal play, which I believe is the 'fast' setting in the options menu; ctrl-7 for 'this is easy' ctrl-8 for 'man this level has a lot of long boring corridors' ctrl-9 for 'that amoe...

Re: How to draw a level sketch? Read on! :-)

Um, wow! That's really weird, given that: - it renders the non-reply version of this thread instantly - the reply form does include such a render, but not a 'source code' quote of the rest of the thread - the total amount of level sketching in the entire thread is under 2000 cels Admittedly, it does...

Re: How to draw a level sketch? Read on! :-)

(( In writing this comment, I had a lot of trouble with phpBB and possibly the system it's running on: Every 'preview' action takes something like 10-20 seconds. I've verified that my net connection is performing normally; either this host's net is slow or it's lugging for some reason. Also, wheneve...

Re: How to draw a level sketch? Read on! :-)

Having been reminded of this thread, I wrote back then: For these very wide sketches, it would be nice if the forum allowed the sketch to extend all the way to the right hand side of the tab. To see the regular tiles version without wrap, I have to "zoom out" until text is nearly unreadabl...

Re: Ideas from trying out 4.1.1.0, slow motion button, vsysnc, descriptions, etc...

Hmmm, now I am very confused. I have my own personal setup, which I've recommended here a couple of times, including Holger having at one point sounded like he might implement them as standard shipping game config. But AFAIK that never actually happened. My setup is basically 0-5 = tape buttons 0..5...
