Re: EMC Level bugs

I thought: let's start a topic about bugs in the new EMC collection, which uses the Emerald Mine engine. [...] #5: Fun Mine 1 - Level 1: Cannot be solved, you need one more emerald. [...] this is indeed a bug in rocksndiamonds that breaks many caves, see an explanation: http://www.artsoft.org/forum...

I cannot emphasize enough how much I appreciate this!

IMHO, the most important part was to translate the engine to C, which made it available to all modern systems, not only antique Amiga systems. I cannot emphasize enough how much I appreciate this! This is wonderful! The perfect way for you to show your appreciation would be to pay me for my valuabl...

I also don't think that differences in behaviour you mentioned above (collecting falling gems) are a "fatal flaw", as this only makes a minority of levels a little bit easier to play (sort of "cheating", if you like). IMHO, a "fatal flaw" is an engine difference that m...

Rocks'n'Diamonds compatible with Emerald Mine? No!

rocksndiamonds is compatible with emerald mine if it was compatible with emerald mine, it would need to be designed that way. rocksndiamonds was not designed to play emerald mine if it wasnt designed to play emerald mine, it wouldnt be compatible with it. it doesnt get compatible or get designed by...

RnD is partially compatible with Emerald Mine The RnD engine was NOT designed to play Emerald Mine levels! you're right, i dont get this. in order to be 'any' compatible, you would need to have some things in common between rnd & emerald mine. but then you say its not designed like that, so thi...

And, the Emerald Mine Engine is still clearly not finished nor will it ever likely be pinpoint perfect, especially when there's more interest in hounding him and not the slightest hint of any interest whatsoever in actually being constructive and helping him. what an odd thing to say. from the star...

The RnD engine was NOT designed to play Emerald Mine levels! it was designed to play the original kingsoft emerald mine 1 levels, but no others :-) the proof is in the rocksndiamonds zip file; it includes the original kingsoft emerald mine 1 levels. it would be pretty dumb to distribute levels with...

this is why i want to be credited properly. If you think that you are not credited properly for your valuable contribution to R'n'D at the moment, and how it should be done instead, please let me know. (Here in the forum, or by private e-mail, as you prefer.) like i said back in september, follow t...

has anyone verified the 'classic original games/emerald mine' that comes with rocksndiamonds are all solvable? All of the levels that can be played with just a single player [0-81] are solvable. did you personally solve them all? how long did it take? However with the new implementation of player-f...

So "Emerald Mine for X11" is also based on a disassembly of the original Kingsoft engine code? I assumed this, but wasn't sure. going back a long time... i disassembled original kingsoft emerald mine, and re-wrote it from scratch in assembly for the amiga. then i found the emerald mine cl...

As David's EMC game engine is wrtten in C just like R'n'D, it was relatively easy to get it running in R'n'D (by using "cut & paste", if you want). This "get it running" means that the new code was started somewhere from within R'n'D and then painted it's output into the R'n...

As I see it, he could have easily just left all the emerald mine levels partially broken under the RnD engine heh "partially" and said "Tough luck", like he is saying about upgrading the engine? but he personally chose to go to the trouble of adding a second engine into the game...
