Re: Goldfin, a single-screen Boulder Dash-like game by Michael Eberlein from simpleGUIDE
Huh, Kye, I seen the game more than a couple of times, but I didn't necessarily thought of it as a Boulder Dash-like game on first remembering or glancing at the screenshots from the website. Admittedly, it kinda speaks to me more of a Chip's Challenge-like game, even though there isn't a lot of gam...

Goldfin, a single-screen Boulder Dash-like game by Michael Eberlein from simpleGUIDE
Heya folks, Here's another game that I seem to have downloaded years ago that I haven't tried out until recently, it's called Goldfin, made by simpleGUIDE, but checking on https://www.simpleguide.net/sg/impressum.jsf - it seems the person who made it is Michael Eberlein; this is also mentioned when ...

R'n'D jue BDEM 1.0.0: Trying to reconfigure player controls through controller gives black screen
Self-explanatory, thought I somehow broked the game, but tried out with version 4.1.0.0, and when doing that, there was the Xbox 360 controller to guide through (which admittedly is a bit finnicky but probably for another topic). When doing it to R'n'D jue, there was just a black screen, no prompt t...

Reconfiguring player keyboard controls takes far longer than normal because of plugged in PlayStation 4 controller
Well, this is a bit embarrasing, I legit thought R'n'D jue BDEM 1.0.0 was broken after installing it, but it also occurs with version 4.1.0.0, and 4.2.3.1 64-bit, the two other versions I keep around for different purposes. Basically while I was trying to reconfigure my controls for player 1 for R'n...

Memories and thoughts on Mirror Magic, literally an essay's worth of writing
Introduction Earlier this week, I decided to finally complete Mirror Magic, both Deflektor, and Mindbender, in order of playing. But before saying my thoughts on both of those games it was based on, I have some memories to share on this game: Memories Mirror Magic, it's the other game that Artsoft ...

Re: An interesting and very different Boulderdash game.
Fandom...comments? Like in the genre of Boulder Dash-likes? Or those Wikia/Fandom comments? I'm not sure what you're talking about, since this fandom of the genre seems to be small and quiet over the years, or somewhere else that's more active, that's in a language that's not in English (there's pro...

Re: An interesting and very different Boulderdash game.
Heh, I was a bit surprised you didn't link to a YouTube video of this Boulder Dash EX game, as it would've given a lot of context. For those who are curious, here's a YouTube video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZri89edgB8 ) from the YouTube channel "LongplayArchive". There's certainly...

Re: Boulder Dash, but made by the University of Bristol
Heh, that could be one way to further compatibility, although the engine from Rocks'n'Diamonds could be more standardized to being a top-down tilebased video game engine of sorts. I'm just not sure if the specific movement I described is possible to be replicated at all. As for this little game itse...

Enemies are not present in Deflektor from Mirror Magic compared to the original
So I just beat Deflektor from Mirror Magic, considering that there much fewer topics on Mirror Magic than say Rocks'n'Diamonds (the most notable recent mention is https://www.artsoft.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2535 ); ...or even a separate section for Mirror Magic at all, which makes me wonde...

Boulder Dash, but made by the University of Bristol
So, I was looking through some of the files I downloaded, which can range from weeks to maybe years. I stumbled upon a Boulder Dash-like, which is apparently made by the University of Bristol. I found this from https://www.softpaz.com/games/download-boulder-dash-game-4500.htm - it can be played for ...

Re: High score server
You know, this high score server talk made me remember that I used to play BD4, which is a Emerald Mine clone (which differs from an Emerald Mine-like) that you can see the whole level, which in hindsight was something Rocks'n'Diamonds didn't feature until later but with custom graphics (and the old...

Re: High score server
Oh hey, so I see that one of the traditions of the Emerald Mine Club and their levelsets in which score attacking these countless levels is now being brought into fruition, Rocks'n'Diamonds edition; and I say this because of reading countless messages of the level creator or the level creator group ...

Re: Stumbled upon an web browser version of Rocks'n'Diamonds 2.11, MS-DOS version
Network game support? Like LAN or playing with other players online? Doesn't something like the original Doom support online multiplayer since it's also a MS-DOS game, or is that a different can of worms? I'm now curious what other things have to be cut for this demake or cut down MS-DOS version wou...

Stumbled upon an web browser version of Rocks'n'Diamonds 2.11, MS-DOS version
Heya all, I just stumbled upon this interesting nugget over the world of R'n'D, thanks to the power of DOS Box via online, you can play the game online from DOS Games Archive: https://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/rocks-n-diamonds-211/ Keep in mind of the loud sudden starling noises when first st...

Re: 4.2.2.1: Additional way to retry level with "Ask On Game Over" feature enabled
Sorry about that sentence Holger; to clarify, I meant to say is if 'Enter' is used for being able to retry again with the "Ask On Game Over" feature, why not extend it to the "Start Game & Toggle Pause" key (which by default I think it's 'Space Bar'?; I'm not sure if I set it...
