Just download the tarball , unpack it for example in your home directory and start the preceompiled binary (from the console, with ./rocksndiamonds; starting from X might not work, but I'm not sure - you can always write a small script though and click on it). Should work on any distro. The packaged...

Re: thanks but ...

thanks for the help. I didnt understand at all the comment about F2 and "reload a direct snapshot" == how do I reload a direct snapshot? When I recorded a level, then restarted and hit F2 I get a message that there is no saved tape. ...because you didn't save the tape - either with F1 or ...

Maybe it's because I compiled RnD from source (I had to, to use different paths). But it didn't give any errors... Oh well.

Maybe it changed lately, because that's how it is in 3.2.2. Now that I think of it, I didn't have issues like that earlier.

It used to be possible, with keys 1-3, but supposedly it was only for debugging purposes, so Holger removed it later. Maybe if you run Supaplex in debugging mode...?

Rocks'n'Diamonds doesn't yet fully emulate the Supaplex engine and in fact quite a few things are different: for example the way that two snik-snaks go around each other is completely different in the two games. Also, it's not possible to do chain reaction of electrons and snik-snaks that would prod...

Re: How to continue a recording ?

I use RnD to play Supaplex. I use the recorder so I dont have to 'replay' my way through a puzzle. Question: after I play the recording forward to where I want to pick up; I stop the playback. then how can I continue recording from that point forward? What Zomis answered is not quite right and ofte...

Don't unpause on release-key.

Current behaviour of RnD is to unpause a paused game on any event (or whatever it's called: key-press, key-release, mouse, joystick and all that stuff). My suggestion is to change that so that the game is unpaused only happens on key/button press and not on the release. Motivation: pretty often it h...

Ok, I found the original (compatible) Supaplex levelset, I don't think it is in official distribution at all, it consists simply of levels.dat and homemade levelinfo.conf. But the tapes still don't work, at least not like they used to. Doesn't make much sense. Can somebody take my tapes from http://...

Well, all but one Supaplex levels were solvable somewhere around RnD 3.1.x, but they are completely broken now. Almost none of my tapes works with the current levels, or maybe I just have the wrong levelset installed (recently I decided that my RnD directory is messy enough and I installed it from s...

I'm not sure if it's the same, but I noticed a similar behaviour: I play and I die. So I save the tape and then load it (not the snapshot, but by playing it and pausing before end) and then press record to append. But then if I want to do it again, i.e. save at some later position or finish a level ...

As for BD2K3, the readme.txt does not explicitly state any licence, so it's either GPL (if it automatically inherits RnD's licensing) or – by definition – copyrighted to you. In either case, the guy is breaking the law not crediting you for the graphics (and in case of GPL that's all he would have ...

That's an interesting question, actually... are the levelsets distributed with RnD or available as an expansion automatically covered by some licence? RnD is covered by GNU GPL, so in theory every derivative work also has to bear this licence. But are levelsets derivatives of RnD? I would say yes, b...

Ok, thanks for all the explanations, so I was right to think that the snapshot is just an addition. I was thinking about loading the tape simply with the 'play' button, but I forgot that I can append to it by recording (and so I was afraid that loading this ways would be pretty pointless). But now t...

Thank you very much for quick tapes feature! I have a question, however. How do I load the tape in old, slow mode? It's the only way to pause at certain moment, and it's useful sometimes. Is the old-style tape saved along with the quick snapshot when I press F1?
