Re: separate single-player and multi-player hall of fame
It's a long time since I played with this, and I never actually played networked, just 'multi-player' with me at the keyboard operating P1 and occasionally lurching P2 to some new useful location... Anyway, I vaguely remember that it might have been smart enough to only manifest as many players as w...

Re: change graphics “RocksHeroes.pcx” file in RnD 4.3.8.2
I'm sure the files are there somewhere, and the Mac 'finder' etc. are just being stupidly 'helpful'.

Re: change graphics “RocksHeroes.pcx” file in RnD 4.3.8.2
Holger is on vacation and might be slow to reply :) It is simple: some years ago, all of the PCX graphics files were replaced with PNG. They mostly have the same names, whatever.pcx => whatever.png. I think he did this because PNG is generally a better format, and more widely supported by modern too...

overlapping keys
My oldest child heard some music the other day which reminded them of Rocks'n'Diamonds, so they set out to install it on their Debian 'sid' laptop. They downloaded the Linux install from artsoft.org, but didn't understand how to finish the job, and I interrupted and said let's see what's in the repo...

Re: old level designer says hello
It's still out there -- if you're paranoid about that you should remove the old versions with the (what, EMC Sex Mine or some such??) -- or 'clean' them. But I can't imagine there's anything that's worse than 30 seconds of random browsing on twitter or any of the other 'social media' services...

Re: old level designer says hello
I haven't re-tested just now, but I believe myself from a year ago, when I said that those levels (i.e. the ones from levelsets i ii iii, which exist in Holger's archive) ran successfully. Just to be absolutely clear: you are testing those levels with the tapes included in Holger's archive? Or are t...

Re: "load the rest of these levels later" key
I think you could probably have a single(*) on-disk cache file for the entire discovery process, instead of looking for and opening hundreds-to-thousands of directories and files. Only run the full discovery process when needed. (*) Or a few, however many is reasonable... When needed? Well, the game...

Re: RocksSP.png changed to make disk types easier to distinguish.
Agree with Eizzoux, in that the originals look like real 3.5" floppy disks with labels; the proposed replacements look wrong. The white area is for writing in; labels with solid yellow or especially red would be less useful, so they were never seen. I also think colors, whether solid or the ori...

I will be unhappy with this if useful discussion happens there and is not copied here, as I am not going to add Yet Another online forum to my rounds. What if you raise whatever discussion you think you were going to raise there, here, and see how it goes, first? This is only slightly less realtime ...

Re: "force solving levels" vs "allow skipping levels"
It would be a lot less confusing to make these into a single user interface setting with >2 values (doesn't matter whether these are then internally translated into the current 2 settings or not): Skipping levels [menu]: - no, solve in order - ask before skipping - skip around freely ... or whatever...
