Re: "force solving levels" vs "allow skipping levels"

It would be a lot less confusing to make these into a single user interface setting with >2 values (doesn't matter whether these are then internally translated into the current 2 settings or not): Skipping levels [menu]: - no, solve in order - ask before skipping - skip around freely ... or whateve...

Re: "force solving levels" vs "allow skipping levels"

makes sense now. maybe, to make it more intuitive, these two settings could be replaced with two new settings that have different logic but the same effect: "allow skipping levels" and "ask on skip level". if "allow skipping levels" is false, then you have to do levels ...

Re: Boulder Dash EX - An interesting and very different Boulderdash game.

i stumbled upon this game independently a while ago. here are the notes i took: - if you're moving away from a rock and you would just BARELY get crushed (by like a couple pixels) your character does an animation where he holds up his foot like his toe got stubbed. you're immobile during this time b...

suplaplex engine doesn't let you immediately quit to menu upon death

in the emerald mine and rocks'n'diamonds engines, you're able to instantly quit to the menu by pressing ENTER or ESCAPE as soon as you die. however, supaplex requires you to wait a couple seconds after you die before you can instantly quit (the same time it takes for the "game over! try again?&...

"force solving levels" vs "allow skipping levels"

what is the difference between these two settings? it sounds like they imply the same thing, but one of them is inversed (e.g. if you aren't allowed to skip levels, then you're forced to solve them. but if you aren't forced to solve levels, you're allowed to skip them). what does having "force ...

highlight name of current player/team in hall of fame list

if you're looking at the hall of fame, you probably want to know which entries are yours at a glance. if your name is of the same length as someone else's and starts with a similar letter, this requires taking a closer look: HoF names 1.png so i suggest that any name in the hall of fame that is iden...

also, editing player/team names

this situation also requires using the mouse (to click EDIT):

the left and right buttons aren't currently used in this screen, so maybe make pressing right equivalent to clicking EDIT for the currently selected row

add some way to play a hall of fame tape with the keyboard

referring to this screen: HoF.png currently the only way to play the tape of this entry is to click on the the play button. i think this is the only non-editor aspect of the menu that requires you to use the mouse to do something. the obvious solution to me seems like "press ENTER to view tape,...

Re: About reports

What I think could also be a neat addition is the topic tag for the bug reports (and maybe new ideas as well), where if you just made a topic, the topic would automatically display as "Not reviewed", if the report was read by you, it would be "In progress", if you fixed the bug,...

Re: List of DC3 elements and elements that are different in DC3

The barriers can freely pass through perpendicular barriers, but will be blocked by parallel barriers. I realize now this is worded a bit strangely. It's true, though. Barriers can intersect as long as they're not pointed at each other. https://i.frogbox.es/ohr It seems vertical barriers will be pr...

i think DC3 Elements update is dead link
Where do you see dead links? They all work fine for me.
i think he's referring to http://www.zomis.net/rnd/info.php?f=164 , as linked to from this thread, which is a shame as apparently it contained some recreated elements from DC3 as custom elements.

Re: what if DC3, Igor, SR, repton, heartlight and DC Steam on R'n'd?

if you really want all this to be in then the first step should probably be detailing all the individual mechanics and what they do, as i did with DC3 a while ago: https://www.artsoft.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2686 the second step is to accept holger is likely done with adding new mechanics to rnd b...
