I use RnD unzipped in a non-Program Files folder and I have not had a problem with it yet. But everyone's configuration will be different and there might be all sorts of possible subtle errors... But regarding your second point - I did have the same problem as you described if I overrode the level g...

I could not make BD Dream crash on Windows XP on a virtual machine. Since it seems to happen on two fairly different computers, maybe the problem is a specific combination of graphics options and/or levelsets? I'll have a look at it on my WinXP PC when I get home this weekend, but I don't remember t...

New operating systems, new trouble. :-( ;-) Has anybody a chance to run R'n'D 3.2.6.1 on Windows 7 using a memory profiler/debugger, like valgrind (not sure if it is available for Windows though)? Maybe the most interesting question here is if the crashes are triggered by the fact that you're runni...

Crashing while loading levels

Hi everyone When I attempt to load levelsets with custom artwork, approximately half the time, RnD will crash (stop responding) just after finishing loading the graphics & music. This primarily affects the EMC level collection, however it has also crashed on other levelsets such as BD2K3. When t...

Moved from another post due to somewhat irrelevance :). Making a mouse cursor is very easy using this program: http://planetsourcecode.com/vb/scripts/ShowCode.asp?txtCodeId=54968&lngWId=1 You need Visual Basic 6 to compile it. In addition, if you are using Windows Vista or 7, you will need to do...

That's a really good point actually. Accordingly, I'll move the links to the Off-Topic forum.

Well, not a lot happened to me. The Artsoft forum is one of my sites I check everyday, so if I wasn't busy, I'd check to be greeted by the database error message. Truth be told, I was getting ready to give up entirely. A heavy university workload didn't leave much time for anything else at all, but ...

Re: Thoughts on the EMC levels

Although I can probably forgive some of that due to the limitations of creating those levels, some people actually dislike "95" percent of the levels due to repetitiveness and/or complicated. ... Any thoughts or opinions on the Emerald Mine Club levelsets? My main gripe with the EMC level...

Edit: Links moved to Off-Topic forum (Post your cool and useful links, page 4).

Changing the mouse cursor would be a good idea for different levelsets, but the cursor is not really a significant part of RnD... and the level editor would probably prefer something simplistic.

I don't think so. I think monsterman means that during the last 5 or so seconds of the shield (i.e. when it is about to disappear), change the shield to let the player know it's time to find safe ground.

It seems like the view count increments every time a topic is viewed. View this topic, click the "Off Topic" link, view it again, then click "Off Topic" again. You'll noticed it has increased. Unless two other managed to view in that small space of time when I did this :).

I'm using the HP widescreen monitor that I also used for my other old computer (after the old monitor started screwing up). I think it's either that the monitor's age -- with the lining being wavy, but most likely not affecting how scrolling vertically would work. I'll check the monitor after I com...

Some useful programs: 7-Zip ( http://www.7-zip.org/ ) - I haven't found an archive this can't unpack yet. If you have EMC levelset, you probably already have this. Notepad++ ( http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm ) - Extremely useful for modifying plain-text files where syntax highlightin...

I concur - loading times for the Emerald Mine Club are quite long. Furthermore, the large number of files used by RnD really slow down disk operations. Is there any way the file can be compacted so there are less of them? Loading a single levelset sounds like a good idea - a 'load on demand' for lev...

Second of all, during gameplay -- I actually remembered that the scrolling was very smooth... or was it my eyes that is tricking me? X3 But instead, I felt that the screen studded via scrolling bit by bit. Maybe it's my new computer (64bit operating system), the monitor, or that I'm playing the spe...
