guess what! Another type of beryl, this time "golden beryl". the name heliodor, when translated from greek, literally means "sun gift". Standard heliodor has a slight yellow-green, whereas golden beryl has more brownish-yellow. this is because golden beryl gets its colour from charged iron ions.  
  
because it is a beryl subtype, like goshenite or "clear beryl" before it, the mohs hardness is 7.5-8; however, unlike goshenite, heliodor and "golden beryl" are valuable gemstones.  
  
fun fact: the largest cut heliodor on display is a 2054-carat stone showcased in washington d.c.'s hall of gems. that's 410.8 grams!
