 dustin , thanks for notification :D i'm not sure at all if there's more vortex based dff:s which aren't freeriding another dff but are unique single dff:s. i'm little bit doubtful though because if there is simpler vortex dff than those known currently we probably would have been already found it and bigger formations than 6-elements and sinking-f6 would have trouble to hold together. i'm actually a little bit surprised that even formations like 6-e and sinking-f6 can survive and move :)

 nesdori , ok so you haven't just tried out everything by brute force to find these two formations? there are still a lot of similar formations that could be checked. i think we might actually have all formations which stay inside a 4x4 square with a vortex in the middle, but i'm not so sure about the formations like 6-elements and sinking-f6, which also have flies outside that 4x4 square. there are a lot of possibilities and i'm actually not too surprised that two ofthem hold, even if it's just "by chance".
