vesuvianite is a sorosilicate, found in skarn deposits and metamorphosed limestones. it is often refered to as idocrase; the original name was given because of mineral deposits found at Vesuvius. there are other colors, depending on the impurities found in the crystals, from sky blue, to violet, to even pink or purple.  
  
this level layout was actually a discarded plan in favor of the structure found in cave W -- willemite.  
  
it has a mohs hardness of about 6.5.

fun fact: during validation, I had a border firefly dance interaction where it looked like a Z-type tetris piece wiggling back and forth :D

The slow formations look really cool, we should call them "Creepers" and research more formations :D
