his cave is almost 50% solvable - the amoeba must not grow and convert into boulder before you can do anything. in this case it is still a bit tricky, beside showing the cavescan order effect that exactly one ff survives.

also, i have a bd puzzle for you connected with this cave. when testing it, one time i got an extremely lucky shot after which the cave became trivial - who finds out how this can be?

is your solution from this extremely lucky shot or have you solved it "regularly"? ;d

extreme luck.

then you could still try to solve it without that luck ;d the cave is always solvable if the amoeba does not convert into boulders!

my solution is the intended "regular"

and i can see how to get lucky but i'm not that lucky :)

if anyone is confused now by all the discussion - there are three "luck levels" in this cave.
1. bad luck - amoeba converts into boulder and cave becomes unsolvable. propability slightly above 50%.
2. regular luck - amoeba does not grow, cave is solvable but tricky. propability slightly less than 50%.
3. jackpot - amoeba grows at the exactly right moment at the exactly right place. no ff survives and cave is trivial. propability less than 1%.

sometimes i have thought that it would be nice to have non-growable amoeba object (or some other object) which can trigger deterministic fly explosions. it would enable many cave design ideas which are now impossible.

dustin : nice, but why not reducing rockford's birth time to reduce the probability of bad luck scenario #1? :-)

nesdori : i'm generally reluctant to adding items to this simple/great game, but adjustable amoeba growth rates would be a great addition, including a zero rate (= not growing).
as for the slime we also have the zero permeability which eliminates all (pseudo) randomness, so why not for amoeba as well? :-)

Arno - yeah, reducing the birth time would have been a simple and effective idea. i calculated the propability of the 3 scenarios, but this idea didn't occur to me... sometimes my brain confuses me ;d

a non-growing amoeba would indeed be nice. in gdash such an option exists and i used it once for a cave, but i also don't think
