Ahhh! That's what I missed, I tried to expand up, not down, that's why I couldn't find more extensions than 1Η :D

a new dancing fly formation (dff) discovered by darkstoorm !
-----------------------------------------------------------

this is the 22nd entry on the list of known dffs!
(for the other 21, see my "dff demo cave" series!)
name: ? (any suggestions?)
consists of: 6ΗΗΗΗΗΗ, 2ΖΖ
direction: left
speed: 9 frames per step
short loop/ long loop: 9/27
free riders: arbitrarily many ΗΗΗ possible

the most striking visual thing (to me) is the ΗΗ vortex at the right which "pushes" the whole formation forward slowly.

a deeper frame-by-frame analysis is about to come! i'm hyped :d

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a note about the cave title "dff 25":
i started numerating my dff caves only at 24. if you're interested in all my dff caves, just search "dff 24" in the database, there you'll find a list of my other 23 dff caves in the comments :d

of course, for those who don't now yet, i should definitely mention the dff topic on Arno 's forum ("tools, fanstuff") as well, where the first 19 dffs are analyzed in great detail by Arno himself! :d

now i analyzed this dff deeply, and in agreement with Arno , i'm going to continue his forum thread about dancing fly formations and post my results there! :d

basically, i think this dff is the ΗΗΗ analogon to the dff "fright-3" which is made of three ΖΖΖ. i know it doesn't look like it at first sight, but i'm going to explain it in the next weeks on Arno 's forum! :d

about the naming:

as this dff has definite similarities to the fright formations, i think "bleft" would be an appropiate name. in analogy to "fright-3,4,5", the count of flies could be added to that name. i have three proposals:

\\\ bleft-8, bleft-6+2 or bleft-4+4 \\\

the first would be simplest - 8 flies.
pros:
\ simplicity
\ analogy to the naming of many other dffs where the name contains the moving direction and the composition (fright-3,4,5, sinking-f5,f6, crawling-b4,f4...)
cons:
| can be irritating because one might think the dff has 8 butterflies. (however, there's already a dff called "swarm-f8" although there are only 7 fireflies and one butterfly.)

the second would be more distinctive - 6 ΗΗΗΗΗΗ and 2 ΖΖ.
pros:
\ more distinctive than the previous.
cons:
| no analogies to other dff names.

and the third one would be hard to understand at first sight, but it's referring to the fact that only 4 ΗΗΗΗ really form the fright-like formation, while the other 4 ΖΖΗΗ are helpers which make the dff stable. (the fright formations do not need such helpers.)
pros:
\ more descriptive than the others, referring to the inner mechanics.
cons:
| hard to understand if you haven't analyzed the dff.
| can be mistaken for 4ΖΖΖΖ and 4ΗΗΗΗ.

any opinions/ preferrances? or a completely different suggestion? :d
