this time, i experimented with the "adjacent colors" feature at paletton.com - the dirt is the pure rainbow color, the twall is more bluish and the brick wall more reddish. looks nice to me! in general, i noted that i like purely purple/red colored caves very much :d

while the etymology of "violet" is just as obvious as it looks (same goes for "orange"), i checked where the word "red" comes from, and that was quite interesting again!

the indo- european base of "red" is "reudh-", and that meant... red! it turns out that "red" was one of the very first color words used in human language, beside "white/light" and "black/dark". i haven't found a fully convincing reason why this is the case, one source states that it's because it's the color of copper, ochre and other useful native materials which humans used from the beginning. another reason might be that red has such a striking effect on human eyes. what is proven is that white, black and red were the first colors ever used in human arts!

searching for early natural definitions of "red", i found "color of blood" and "first rainbow color". the first one is surely the reason why red was always associated with danger and braveness!

dustin , and many poisonous or venomous plants and animals are red. so it's a warning color for entire animalia; not just humans :)

nesdori , on the other hand i'm very happy that humanity has learned to rationalize such fears. otherwise, we might still avoid cherry tomatoes and red peppers just for their color, and these are a big part of my daily life! :d
