 dustin , pawns as flies, really?-) when you previously told about your habit of solving scanning problems with a chess board i thought that you use knights or other circularly non-symmetrical pieces (like bishops in some sets) as flies so that you can also see the direction a fly is heading :)

i somehow forgot the possibility to hide inside the cage of the bottom ffly while i sat in front of my chessboard :d so my theoretical solution is even more dramatic ;d
