dustin , this one i guessed wrong. i thought you would choose "inbox". of course, it's a bit awkward object to design a cave with because there can be only one inbox but you did a good job with only one hidden exit as well :)

nesdori , that's funny because i was wondering if you would guess the i-cave to be "inbox" or "intermission".

i thought you might think it was "inbox" because you already said you expected o to be "outbox" (no spoiler whether this will be the case) :d

for me, "intermission" was the clear favourite because:
1. "inbox" didn't seem to me to be a very common bd term - in fact, i first read it here on this site, while just "starting position" looks like a very intuitive alternative. "intermission", on the other hand, is very much bd-ish!
2. the problem with "inbox" is, unlike "hidden exit", that there's exactly one inbox in e v e r y cave, so how to emphasize that the inbox is especially important in a cave?

any guesses for j? as i suggested before, it's not "joystick". my cave is already finished and i even promise i won't change it just to falsify your guess ;) one more spoiler: i've combined two j-words, just like the b- and d-caves :)

dustin , actually, i have a new guess for "j" (again i didn't check a dictionary, it just popped in my head :) it's a word very rarely used nowadays when speaking about bd caves but peter liepa himself used that word multiple times in boulder dash 1 manual :)

dustin , oh! i thought inbox is quite general term for starting position. i tried googling it and it's found on many bd documents. for example in "C64 Boulder Dash Inside FAQ" written by logicdeluxe in 2006.

nesdori , not a bad j guess at all! if peter liepa himself used it so constantly, then who am i to decline it just because it's no longer so popular? :d even if the modern synonyme has already popped up in this bd alphabet, it might wlll be valuable enough to use it once more - but for the same reason i thought a second j-word would be good. once again, instead of a dictionnary, the bd manuals should be sufficient to find it ;)

as for "inbox", it's also well possible that i did read it before but didn't really note it. i usually used to say "starting position" ;)

dustin , well you can use both concepts in THE same sentence: "THERE'S A FLICKERING INBOX (object) ON THE STARTING POSITION AND AFTER THE BIRTH TIME HAS PASSED, ROCKFORD APPEARS FROM THE INBOX" :)
