another color experiment: dirt and titanwall colors are complementary.
first pair is red/cyan, which looks quite nice to me :)

interesting experiment; complementary colors always look nice when combined together.

it actually depends on the color model which pairs are complementary.
for this cave you apparently apply the rgb-model, but for example, for the ryb-model (red-yellow-blue), red and green are complementary.

in this cave you put opposite colors for t-wall and dirt (and keep wall color white). an alternative scheme which also gives nice looking results is to use one color for t-wall and dirt (a darker version) and the opposite color (a light vesion) for wall. i have colored some of my caves in the past that way. :-)

I tried to do a different experiment today as I often use https://paletton.com for finding matching colors. I noticed, that the default settings on this website actually look really nice with almost any color.

On the left side you can use the outside circle to select the color, and On the right side, you have a visualization of the automatically created palette with your color. I don't know how other shades are called, but I like to refer to them as:

- Highlight
- Primary
- Secondary
- Shadow

I ignore the selected color itself. The default palette looks really nice when you apply it in the CKit, looking at the bottom-left corner of the Monochromatic palette (default) you can use the following order:

1: shadow (4th shade)
2: Highlight (1st)
3: Primary (2nd)
4: Secondary (3rd)

Even bright palettes don't look that bad!

I haven't played with a mixed palettes yet, the monochromatic schemes look the best to me.

Oh, now that I looked at it again from my home monitor, the palette might need a little tweaking :D

Arno , thx for the detailed comment! i remember i was told as a child (in art class) that red, yellow, blue were the basic colors, later on i learned about the rgb scheme (constructive) and the cmyk scheme (destructive) so i thought that my art teachers were simply mistaken. but it seems they weren't (it's a pity, i like the idea of my art teachers being mistaken, they always gave me bad marks!) :d
