when i tested the cave from Arno dash 3, cave 6, i remember that i managed to get 45\ only once, and i just forgot how i did it. normally i get around 40-42\ with my normal strategy.

i'm curious to see how many \ you guys can press out of that cave! ;d

that's incredibly close to the theoretical all-in of 146\!

dustin , yes, with my strategy the maximum is 145 (there's one diamond which can't be saved) but getting 140+ requires a lot of experiments to get a nice flow of bflies. 125 was actually quite easy. if i get closed in a room and i'm told that i can get away once i get 140+ diamonds i think i'll get out in a week :)

when i saw this cave i instantly thought that the strategy i used is the ultimate strategy to get a high score. i wonder if you know what i did? :) i'll reveal my solution and some more analysis later.

nesdori - getting closed in rooms doesn't seem that unrealistic for us all, so we have better try and get 140+\ altogether if that really is the way to escape! xD

well, i guess you destroyed big parts of the magic wall, how exactly i don't know,

i tested this cave a lot for my game release in order to check out how many \ i should require on l5. the thing is, i tried a lot of small nuances but i never questioned my general strategy - just blast in, destroy some bf, be careful not to blast a magic wall so the diamonds would fall through two magic walls, go down and collect the \ to clear the way under the bottom mw again, and then kill the remaining bf in time before the mw runs out.

in any case, i'm looking forward to see your run, i'm sure i'll have some "oooh" and "aaah" experiences there! ;d

ok, now i have a more concrete idea:

1. destroy the 3 rightmost parts of the top magic wall. i guess that's where you lose a diamond because the bottom mw will convert it before you can grab it.

2. now that the bf have access to the area between the magic walls, it's theoretically possible to destroy first the bottom, then the top magic wall with bf explosions. no more | conversions will happen.

3. with the mw out of the way, the rest is theoretically trivial.

some remarks and bits about my thought process:

when i saw this cave i of course thought of how to maximize the number of diamonds. i quickly rejected the standard approach of hitting bflies on top of the top room because it's not possible to get enough clean hits. But the idea of hitting bflies while they cross the magic wall floor was interesting. If fly is hit when it have just crossed the last piece of floor there's enough floor left for remaining flies so that it's possible to hit all flies and get 8 or 9 diamonds each time. OK, that's the plan! To keep the diamonds from converting into boulders i needed to get rid of the bottom magic wall. At this point I had my first moment of thought. I didn't want to use fflies to explode bottom mw because many potential \ are lost and it's not that easy anyway. After I spotted that some diamonds falling from the explosion of the upper right brick wall can be used to split the left and right side of the cave so that flies can't enter the other side I had my plan ready. I had to somehow separate two or more (preferably just two) bflies so that those two will enter the left side and the first falling diamonds will block the gateway for other flies. Then I proceeded to casually check what happens if I release the bflies by removing dirt from the bottom and top row of the container and then run towards the right side brick wall. Two bflies were separated from the rest and they headed to the left side and there was a pause long enough before the next fly tried to go left so that the falling diamonds blocked the way before that. So just what I was looking for with the first try! This is too easy! :)

Now that I got two bflies trapped on the left side it was easy to separate them from each other so that they didn't enter the bottom room right after the other so that it was possible to explode them cleanly. Then I tried different horizontal slots on the path for the big bfly group to get a nice flow of bflies entering the upper room. Also I wanted a flow where the bflies hold the diamond which blocks the way from entering the upper room too early so that i can first explode the bottom wall without interference. Again, the horizontal slots I used in my run are about the first I tried and i didn't find better way just trying some variations and different lengths of them. The bflies hold the blocking diamond so long that I could do the first bottom mw exlosion and then even grab the blocking diamond before it falls into mw thus saving one more diamond :) The flow of bflies entering the room is quite nice; especially at the beginning where a series of perfect hits are done.

so.. how to improve my run to get 140+ diamonds?

after each clean hit, the leftmost top diamond of the stack will fall into mw next to it and will be converted into a boulder. because the theoretical max number of diamonds is 146, this conversion must be evaded for the most of bfly explosions. This is possible because rockford can run down after each boulder drop and support the diamond stack until the top of it is safely fallen down. But this of course is even more demanding for bfly flow because now the gap between bflies must be even longer than in case of where one-diamond-loss is just ignored. It probably is impossible to construct a flow where each gap is wide enough so some bflies must be skipped and let go under the mw and they are handled on the next round of arrival. This is a problem because those bflies collide with each other and start circling or they are hit by falling diamonds thus resulting in less than 9 diamonds. But I think that with careful planning and lots of experiments 140+ is possible. Because one diamond is lost when the first bottom mw explosion is done, 145 is the theoretical max with current method. However, this diamond can also be saved by using another bfly supporting the stack. If just one is used, it starts circling around so to get 146 three or more bflies are needed on the left side instead of two. So in theory, the absolute max 146 is possible but it's insane project. I'm sometimes stubborn about getting the max out of the caves but i'll skip this one. I'm happy with 125 diamonds :)
