here's my solution with 657 diamonds. :-)

trischi83 , your original cave required 660 diamonds and you claimed it was tested. i find it hard to believe... please show me your solution!

Arno , very nice demo execution and -1 diamomnd reference solution. here's my analysis of this cave:

trischi said that only 3 expanding wall gates should be used.
"the quest for 3 gates" can be easily cracked by logic so let's do it. there's no other way out from the left room but through a gate so two left for middle and right rooms. You have to enter end exit the right room through one of gates. you have to exit the right room if you go under the slime to transport rightmost column of diamonds to other columns. after transporting, you have to pick up the remaining diamonds by entering the room again because there's no way to pick up the diamonds elsewhere.

so the conclusion from all previous info: it's not possible to first enter the right room and then transport using just total of 3 gates. if you want to use 3 gates the only possibility is to first go to under slime and transport diamonds and then enter the right room. it indeed is possible to go under the slime from middle room by dropping light boulder and go past heavy boulder. but, because the right room is so packed it's not possible to transport entire rightmost column to other columns. with lots of patience and time it's possible to move all diamonds from rightmost column to other columns and rightmost is left with 7 or 8 boulders. This would be sufficient if it's possible to clear the rightmost column by entering the room and then blocking the magic wall. heavy boulder is blocking the way back to middle room so we have to enter the right room from one of the rightmost gates. But because the upper gate is so far from the magic wall it's there's no time to enter the room and block the boulder flow if there are 7 boulders falling.

Let's suppose this is somehow possible and we can clear the rightmost column and then pick up all diamonds. Then we can exit the room to the middle room and use the third gate. But there's another major problem waiting for us in the middle room. Because we already went to under the slime by dropping one of light boulders to a corner there's no way to drop 2 light boulders to magic wall anymore. Upper left boulder can be dropped using the "carry with fast push method" or the upper right boulder and be dropped using fast push for left boulder to construct "3-boulder pavement" and then casually push the upper right boulder to magic wall. But with both methods the room is left with 3 useless light boulders which can't be dropped to magic wall. And of course 2 drops are required to free the amoeba. So there's only one sensible way to solve this cave using just 3 gates and there are many major obstacles on that way.

also I can't find any other improvement to get one more diamond. I think it's not possible to get the remaining diamond from '1' without using another precious gate and thus blocking the amoeba's way to the left room. and trischi previously said that it's intended to leave it. also, i don't see any way to make more space for amoeba or to get rid of the extra light boulders.

so the final conclusion: i can't find any improvement to Arno 's 657 diamonds and i think it's the maximum number of diamonds. i would really like to see a demo with more diamonds or in case of hardware problems at least a verbal explanation that how to do it :)

nesdori , very clear and great analysis - many thanks!

now waiting for trischi 's response... :-)

is this the only cave which requires blocking of magic wall?

this one is so much fun! :)
