i made this cave a bit harder... but not hardcore!

enjoy! :-D

it's a little brain teaser now.

hopefully without Arno -shorcuts or donsan -shortcuts...! ;-)

for a few seconds i wondered what is the difference between donsan - and Arno -short cuts but i got it :) i think i can get 87 diamonds which is 5 more than required. not sure about short cuts though; maybe a combination of short and long nesdori -cuts :) i'll think about this one more deeply tomorrow, now bed time.

here's the intended run. :-)

nesdori , i guess you did two things differently:

1) explode the firefly inside the empty column in the bottom section, with one of the 6 boulders above the slime, and use the explosion to push a boulder to the left, to kill the butterflies. this requires right timing with the slime, but also gives 3 extra diamonds which as you don't need them for other purposes (as in my run).

2) explode the last butterfly inside the room with the boulder/diamond mix, to free up some extra diamonds below boulders.

now 88 diamonds.. :)

 Arno ,

1: not correct
2: correct

there's also another difference demonstrated in the new "mini fun 1" cave :)

i see another way:

use to firefly to blast the top of the brick-wall stairs at the left. then, 2 extra boulders can be added to the vertical column next to the butterflies. the first boulder is needed to kill the butterflies, the other i need later on to bring the last butterfly to the left side (without this boulder, the butterfly keeps spinning around).
with this butterfly it is possible to use the "mini fun 1" trick and to get extra diamonds in the right room with boulder/diamond mix. to get the butterfly there avoiding the voodoo doll, you need an air-drop with one of the boulders at the top right.

am i right nesdori ? if so, i'd like to see the 88 diamonds run. :-)

also, i'm thinking about creating a second remix where you still need to bring a boulder to the bottom (i'd like that method), but also use the butterfly as described above. i'm wondering if this is possible to design...

oow that's very clever to kill the firefly at that point using the expanding wall! i thought only a butterfly could be used there...

thx for sharing! i like the idea from 'mini fun 1' and the final kill of the butterfly to get more diamonds.

i'll make a second remix tomorrow! :-)

exploding the fly by using a wall was about the first thing i noticed in this cave (maybe too much horror lately :) and i figured out the intended solution after that.

and i thought you already knew about it because i thought donsan was talking about the same short cut. but maybe it was something different. i haven't seen his solution on the original sendy cave.

this could well be donsan 's shorcut too. i thought it was simply crushing the firefly at the wall to the left, which i also discovered in the original cave yesterday.
for this reason, i replaced that wall by steelwall.

it's just amazing how much recourses there are in these sendy caves. you just can't come up with these kind of tricks if you try to design them from scratch. and usually in that case tricks are too obvious. but when they are hidden in innocent looking caves where entirely different solution was originally intended, it's so cool. sendy would probably be both proud and astounded if she knew how her caves are treated :)

very true! :-)

i've a question about your move with the firefly.

in your run, just after rockford moves up, the boulder moves before the growing wall moves. i wonder why, because both objects are on the same line, and the cavescan goes from left to right, so the growing wall should first "notice" the empty space at its right.

i tried this scenario in the editor, without rockford inbetween, but just a piece of empty space inbetween. and then (!) the growing wall moves first! so it makes a difference whether rockford creates an empty space or the empty space was already there.

can you explain this difference by the engine logic?

# .font: font.text_1
i think i see it already; rockford's move happens in the same frame!

# .font: font.text_2

# .font: font.text_1
exactly. the expanding wall can't expand because when wall is scanned, rockford is still in the way, after that, rockford is scanned and moved. then finally boulder is scanned and because rockford has already moved, there's space for boulder to start falling.
