wulfenite so happens to be another mineral that occurs through the oxidation of lead, this time bonding with molybdenum. it is named after the austrian mineralogist franz xavier von wulfen, who was prevalent before the mineral's discovery. von wulfen lived from 1728-1805; the first discovery was in 1845.  
  
as it is an oxidized lead secondary mineral, it can occur alongside vanadinite, the previous in the minerals a-z list.  
  
it has a mohs hardness of 3.
