Obsidian was a little difficult to try and pull off, so I went for a "deep underground" volcano feel with white ashen ground and red-hot background.

i find the whole idea to make one cave per gemstone with appropiate colors very interesting!  with 20 different gems, one could even make a whole caveset based on such coloring! :d

the initial idea of using gemstones as factors of the rainbow was visited in ad3, but I wanted more of a spectral flow since I had nine "shifts" to work with. The only shift I am not really a fan of, and should've paid more attention to, is ruby shift because red can strain a lot.
